Planning on going into Political Science with either Data Analytics or Statistics as a minor or maybe another major.
If there are any other similar schools in Great Lakes or New England area feel free to recommend them. I’d also like them to give good aid which I know CM probably won’t.
Not asking for much? The three schools you have listed will be in the “reach” category for almost anyone. If you have a ton of great ECs and a hook, you may be able to get into one of them. So, I would recommend looking at some good ‘fit’ and safety schools.
I am not up to speed on top ranked Poly-sci schools, so time to do some research.
Just to clarify I have multiple safeties I am excited about. I just figured I have a chance at getting in at some competitive schools and might as well try.
Gotcha. Best of luck to you in your search. I have a DS who is a Junior at Notre Dame and loves it. It was a late decision for him to even apply.
On the financial aid aspect, I recommend using the school’s NPC. He found it to be very helpful when deciding to apply or not apply to a few schools. Private schools like the ones mentioned will have more generous aid. For example, Notre Dame will provide “need-based” aid even if your family income is over $200k. A quick look at Georgetown and Carnegie looks like they have similar policies. The challenge is getting in. Once your in, they try to do everything they can to help you afford it.
I go to a very small school that only offers one AP (English which I am currently taking). I am also taking Calculus for college credit. My schedule is as rigorous as possible (Honors, 4 years Latin, Physics, etc.) I have leadership positions (awards too) and plenty of ECs but nothing notable on higher than a state level.
My daughter did not get into ND, 34 ACT, 4.2 gpa (8th out of 310 students), 9 AP’s, the rest honors, officer in 4 honor societies (President of NHS), 3 season varsity athlete (captain), World’s level competitive irish dancer, HS play all 4 years, student ambassador, peer leadership, several academic/athletic awards, tutor… Didn’t get into John’s Hopkins either. STEM major. Her reach school that she got into was Villanova, honors, too expensive. It’s pretty competitive these days!
