Applied for scholarships at Vanderbilt

Congrats on your accomplishments and acceptances so far!

Your reaches are all high reaches for everyone, but you have a good shot at any of them meaning maybe in the small percent that is accepted in a couple of them.

Definitely research what your options would be for your intended major since the opportunities and course selection will be vary greatly.

ABET accreditation and the actual program is important. Dartmouth sticks out for me due to this -

Engineering with Chemistry

Students interested in chemical engineering may elect an engineering sciences major modified with chemistry. Students who plan to pursue additional coursework beyond the AB to earn the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) should consult early with their faculty advisors to plan their program of study.

Great job. You already got into a top Chem E program in UT. You may get into another on your list but you also may not. I’d lean not but 50/50 on NEU . But if you are looking at pedigree in Chem E you missed U Delaware, UMN and others. That u got into UT if you got your specific major is a home run !!. And for what it’s worth my son has done great outcome wise out of Bama, I suspect as well as a top 20 school —-if your decision comes to dying to leave the state although or if for some reason you don’t love UT. So I’m guessing you can do well at any school if you are a go getter and it seems you are. But UT on paper, a great get (if you’re not just admitted to engineering but the major itself).

Good luck.

Congratulations on your achievements and admissions. Just curious…have you already heard from UT-Austin that you’ve been accepted to Cockrell? I know you have guaranteed admission to UTA, but not necessarily to Cockrell?

I can’t chance you but wish you luck the rest of your decisions. I don’t think you need to apply to more schools if you would attend any of the schools you have already been admitted to. If you want to apply to more schools, I second U Delaware and U MN.

I know a great kid who got into engineering at Vanderbilt last year RD with very similar stats and background. Also I think that the Ivies on your list have great deficits of Hispanic women in STEM to remediate, which will definitely help you, but they are all crapshoots for anyone these days. Make sure to interview with all of your reaches and really focus on driving the minority woman committed to engineering (who wants a top well rounded LA education in addition) angle during the interview. That’s your best card.

I agree with the others. You are a strong candidate and I could see you being accepted to any or all of your reach schools. There are far more qualified candidates than those schools have spots for, so if any of those schools don’t accept you, it’s not due to any unworthiness of your application. You certainly have a shot, however. Good luck!

If serious about engineering go to UT. Congrats for getting accepted there. If you can afford it.
