It is impossible to chance at Stanford – the college had an acceptance rate of 4.3% in 2018. Such a low acceptance rate means that there is not enough space for every well qualified candidates – people with perfect grades and test scores are routinely turned own. I do think your UW GPA will hurt a bit but I’d recommend you apply and give it your best shot.
As a piece of unsolicited advice, I’d also recommend that you give up the idea of a dream school – the people I see who get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on one or two hyper-competitive schools and then don’t get in. Be sure to create a solid college list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that you would be excited to attend. IMO finding great match and safety schools is a critical part of the process. There are so many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.
i think that you really just have to sell yourself, every college is going to look at you holistically - especially a super selective school like stanford. i was reading up on their student breakdown, and they do-- contrary to popular belief – accept students with gpa’s that aren’t super strong, you just need to explain everything about yourself!
your test scores are incredible! good job on that and i think really the only thing that would not get you in is if you have an essay that doesn’t explain YOU well. your extracurriculars are good too. i believe that if you belong at stanford, you will end up at stanford. good luck with your application this year, and let us know if you get in!
