Chance me ... Click if u play dota and love starcraft

So I graduated from high school not too long ago probably 08 and i have finished 60 transferable units all in a year only because I misread the requirement " 60 units by the time of transfer" I assumed this meant 60 units before you apply -__- therefore i crammed up for no reason and my current gpa is 2.6 but it'll be 2.8 hopefully by the end of the summer session but wont be high enough to transfer i believe Hoping that my Fall science classes will bring it up to a 3.111 3.22. Fall filing period is november... to attend fall of 2010 and I dont think i can last 3 years at a JC...

next to finishing 60 semester units as a freshmen in a jc....

-- 2.6gpa
-- Interning at a dental office alongside some volunteering in the ER at a hospital
-- Took wrestling to a new level ,since high school, to a new level as a college student such as training in a new sport " MMA". Currently still attending practice with a coach from high school right before dance practice on most days
-- I lead a group of break dancers to many dance competition that is held every once in awhile, I have always been practicing with them every week for an event held every so often.
-- I am in Boyscouts of America,I am apart of the venturing staff in which I am very dedicated in... I was too late on receiving an eagle scout badge because i was over the age limit. This is on the weekend*

I have just realized just now how interesting it is on how much activities I have been in over the years, but then again m GPA is low like *****. Any comments? I am a science major .... hoping for UOP .. or UCD.. I finished most of the science sequences ,haven't taken O-Chem yet,but sometime next year. any comments or suggestions on how screwed I am with this gpa before the filing period? or any HELPFUL suggestions? If i get rejected wouldnt tht mean i have to stay at a JC for 3 years?

UC DAVIS
UC IRVINE
UC LA --REJECTED ANYWAY BUT I WANNA APPLY ANYWAY haha
UC SD-- probably rejected
UC SC

Your GPA is low, but you might be able to make it into UCSC, UCD, and UCI.

No. You need to apply to some cal-states aswell.

I would get a TAG with SD if you’re sure you can get your GPA to a 3.0 by the end of Fall semester. There is no paperwork to fill out for SD TAG; you just check the box when you fill out the application. You just need to have taken 2 transferable english courses, one transferable math course, 60 transferable units, and have a 3.0 GPA by the end of Fall 09 semester.

[Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) 2009-2010](http://www.ucsd.edu/prospective-students/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/transfer/tag.html)

As for UCLA, if you write STELLAR essays, then you never know. I know a few people who were accepted with a really low GPA, but then again they had TAP.

hmm isnt the gpa to even apply or transfer a 3.0 ? haha YES thanks for the selfesteem boost there is hope lol time to ace my calculus finals haha I finished the IGETC thingy already but somone told me tags dont work anymore… thanks for the info guys

Schools don’t care as much about ECs for transfers, they’re only really important for freshman. They’re primarily interested in your GPA and that you’ve finished all your GEs and major prereqs before transfer (or as many as you can).
Your GPA is way too low to say you have a good chance at any of those schools.
You don’t have to stay at a JC for 3 years. You’re not limited to just UC schools, you can get a very good education at a CSU. There’s a bunch of them and they’re all very good. You’ll learn the exact same information at CSULA as you would at UCLA.

I think the minimum to transfer is 2.8. I think as long as you have a 2.8 by the end of Fall 09 your application will be “considered”

As far as I’m aware, TAG’s are still valid. I have a friend applying to SD this fall and she asked the SD rep about TAG; the rep told her if you fulfill the TAG, then you’re in.

I have 60 units of mostly major prereqs… and some GE knowing that i could take a year off of doing nothing saying if i got into a UC and sitll be able to transfer, but yeah im going to probably finish most of what they want for a transfer student to have after these few semesters at my JC

you probably don’t wanna play dota at a UC. My friend at UCI played and he missed his final :(

try winter admission at UC Irvine or any other UCs offering it.

obviously your from sacramento, what ccc did you go to? I might know u ;)

haha i read somewhere that they are cutting back on winter admissions and some UCs arent gonna offer it i think the only ones offering are mercred ,sc, and riverside. Im not from sacramento :frowning: but i enjoy going there on the way to snowboarding haha and another question do you need a 2.8gpa to apply this fall or 2.8 minimum after fall semester is over

You need to have a 2.8 after the fall 2009 semester is over if you are applying for fall 2010 term. Speaking realistically, a 2.8 most likely won’t get you into one of the upper tier schools(UCB, UCLA, UCSD)

I say you work your butt off and pull your GPA to a 3.0 by the end of fall so you can at least TAG with SD since SD is the only UC TAG that doesn’t require paperwork. I believe all the other UC’s require paperwork that is due around the time of the application filing period, which means you’ll have to have the required GPA by the time you sign your TAG with a counselor.

lol your ****ing cool man… thanks for the info

Paperless TAG is available at both UCSD and UCSB. However, all TAG requirements must be completed at the time of application.

<a href=“Understanding UC transfer | UC Admissions”>Understanding UC transfer | UC Admissions;

breakdancing…
wrestling…
MMA fighting

this kid must train hard.
even his sentences run miles.

Basically all TAG requirements must be completed by the end of the Fall 09 semester. This includes GPA, 2 English courses, 1 math course, & IGETC and whatever else may be needed to fulfill TAG

wow… college confidential is hella good and useful o.o i dont think i have anymore questions that i can think of. the counselors at a CC dont know anything and cant answer much questions about transferring or atleast the ones at my CC. All the questions i been wondering for awhile now has been answered thanks people =)

CC is hella useful.

i agree it is useful, so long as your question doesn’t get bumped to the bottom with 0 replies and 6 million views. lol

So am i still able to apply to schools like Davis…Irvine… in the fall as a regular applicant and do a tag after that or… if i do a tag with SD i cant apply to any other schools?.. im confused paperless does that mean at the time of your application filing period you can have your transcript of fall 2009 given later alongside with the required GPA and those schools with paperwork due means that you have to have a 3.0GPA at the time of applying, not including the fall 2009 semester grades?
