Chance me Colorado School of Mines Transfer

Hello, I am planning to transfer to CSM for the spring of 2014 semester, but I'm pretty worried about my chances :(. I originally had planned on going to this school in high school, but started to change my mind due to many reasons. Basically I applied to make my mom happy that I was applying to a variety of colleges, and not just the one I wanted, which is the one I am at. That was a mistake. I got wait listed for CSM because I applied late. Now I want to transfer for a number of reasons, including health and family and of course because its a good school. My high school GPA was a 3.75 with a math SAT score of 740 and a Crit Reading of 680, with another number of awards and internships under my belt from high school. What I didn't expect was what happened to me in college here and why I regret not going to Colorado School of Mines. To make a long story short, due to two room mates threating my well being (threats harming me and other issues) and a severe health issue made worse my local weather issues my gpa has suffered quite so. By the end of this semester, since I no longer have room mates and also am not suffering from my medical problems anymore, I will be above the minimum requirement for transfer, but just by a little. I signed up for 3 summer classes that I know I can do well in and if I do should bring my GPA to just above a ~3.0. I'm currently an RA and have a recommendation from my boss, a couple of my Lab TA's and possibly my high school principle, though that probably doesn't matter much. I also am writing a essay cause I was told that might help. Oh I am a physics major in my sophomore year. Do you think I have a slight chance? And what can I possibly due to raise my chances? Thanks much!

Bump Anybody have an idea?

Hi, I’m in a similar conundrum as the one you wrote about. Can you tell me how your transfer experience went? Thank you!

Hey! Glad to see I’m not the only one! I haven’t finished yet, since spring registration has not opened, not until the first of september. But I emailed the advisor there and they have helped a bit. They are nice and very friendly so I recommend emailing them cause level of interest seems to be a factor but im not sure. We should try and stay in contact and motivate one another!

Ill be applying too, for mining engineering :D.

Hello,

I know this post was a long time ago, but I hope you can help me. I am in a very similar situation as you. Did you get into CSM? If so, what helped you?

Thanks!
