Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school doesn’t rank, but competitive public high school

Extra Curricular/Work experience/community service: multiple leadership positions in religious children camps/Sunday school, leadership position hs newspaper (2 years), journalism program oversees, various internships, on congressional student board and board member for youth leadership that allocated money for non-profits, peer tutor, JV/Varsity sport for 3 years, AP Scholar, Congressional Award for youth leadership

Letters of Rec: 8/10, haven’t seen but just a hunch
CommonApp essay: 10/10
Counselor letter: 9/10

You have a good ACT score, but I’m not sure if your extracurriculars reflect a good fit to the Human Development major.

My D was a HD major & I can not see where her ECs showed any “fit” for her major…they had nothing to do with anything in the HD major.

@stuart07 GPA is low for Cornell (to be completely honest) but it’s great that their is an upwards trend. Is that your ACT score superscored or not superscored (if it isn’t then that will seriously improve your chances! :smiley: ). It sounds like you have interesting ECs, and although many people have gotten into human ecology without a “fit”, i personally think having one improves your chances (i don’t see that here but that doesn’t mean you didn’t write a great essay to show that you are a great fit!)- especially if your GPA is lacking.
Anyhow, you’re totally not out of the running for Cornell (i know plenty of people with your GPA that go here :D), it’s a reach, but you have a shot! Good Luck seeya’ on December 15th!
