Did you send your ACT test score to all the schools you applied to, or did you apply test optional to some?
My college counselor told me to send my score to all schools except for UPenn, and Cornell CALS isn’t accepting scores this year
I’m hoping she didn’t screw me over by having my send my score to some of those schools
It’s hard to predict the impact of test optional at some schools. Generally, one should apply test optional if their test score is below the 25%ile of admitted students (ok to use enrolled student data if that’s all that’s available). Some suggest applying test optional if the score is below the median score (Tulane AOs directly say this and their median is 32).
It’s too late to make changes now, so it’s out of your control.
Are the schools you have already been accepted to affordable?
I haven’t received my financial aid package for Ohio or Penn State. St. John’s gave me a big scholarship, but it is the last school I’d want to attend currently since I’m pursuing a career in the medical field
St. John’s is also too close; I really don’t want to live at home, and my parents are financially able to pay for better than that
I have come to a different conclusion with percentages and these schools. Take a 3.7 unweighted (fairly difficult schedule), 1400 SAT or test optional applicant. BC/NYU - waitlist (on average) and BU/NU - admit (on average). Of course there are other factors like ED/EA/Major… but all things being equal. With @asdfgabjkl, the private schools relationship and history will drive the admissions decision.
But be assured -
BC/NYU - similar level accepted applicant
BU,NU - similar level level accepted applicant that is slightly lower
Tulane has an “extreme” early strategy. With percentages so high for ED and so low for regular, it is by far the easiest and hardest for admissions… depending how you apply.
@asdfgabjkl Ah okay. That makes sense. Yeah, your gpa is on the lower end but your EC’s and ACT score make up for it.
Your counselor is correct for BU and Northeastern.
Tulane has sent me like 3 emails and 2 things in the mail about switching to EDII. They just want money right now. Hopefully other schools aren’t like this really
Any insight on UMich? MY school is a huge feeder to them (as well as Cornell and UPenn) but I feel they’ll probably throw my app away once they see my GPA
Which school did you apply to at UMich? All schools will be a reach, some like engineering and Ross will be high reaches. Did you apply test optional?
I applied to LSA and sent my ACT
That is what i was thinking. I bet your school has enough history with them that it may not be as gray as we think. Unfortunately, I don’t know the specifics of that history. It is likely more realistic than people here will tell you, but still probably not more than a 1/3 chance. Hope you get that one.
Honestly in the end, I won’t know entirely until I find out but this really gave me better insight on it all, so thank you. I’mjust going to try to not freak out and see where I end up
