You are a competitive applicant at both Cornell and Dartmouth (and at any other school). Glancing through the websites of the relevant departments at both schools, I get the “impression” that Cornell’s computational social science has more depth.

Hey, Dartmouth Sophomore here. You seem fairly qualified to get in to Dartmouth academically (as are 60% of applicants).

You also have spikes of achievement in fields related to your chosen major (sports analytics, political work) which is awesome and experience in a bunch of other fields, very good for a liberal arts school like Dartmouth.

As to picking between them, Dartmouth is definitely more undergrad focused than Cornell, the undergrads outnumber postgrads 2 to 1 here. Every class is taught by professors not TAs, and most classes are small.

It is also much easier for undergrads to participate in research as most departments don’t even have graduate school, with many research projects exclusively open to undergrads to work on.

Also, our QSS program is incredible without a doubt
Every one of my friends who are QSS majors love it. The profs in that dept, like at most depts here, love teaching (which is why many profs chose to come to Dartmouth).

That said, if you think you would feel far more at home at Cornell, then go for it. I just wanted to tell you what I know.

gotta show passion ig
