---I'm applying to:
- UMichigan is my top #1 choice, and I'm pretty sure the faculty there knows that too. I visited there this summer as well.
- UT (I'm already auto admit because i"m a texas resident in the top 8%, but don't know my chances to Cockrell)
- UC Berkeley
- UCLA
- CalTech
- UPenn
- Stanford

you should apply to Purdue as well. they have an AMAZING engineering program!

Hi,
It’s great that you want to go for recognized schools. Suggest to look at a few things in your list.
CalTech looks like a big reach for you. Their SAT Math middle 50 is 760-800. You are in 3rd quartile.
Your SAT reading is 3rd quartile. Your writing is well below 700. Low chance I would say.

Penn is an ivy but not well ranked in engineering. I have a colleague from Penn Eng and he seemed a bit disappointed by their ranking. Consider Penn only if you want a double degree in Business (great B-school).

I suggest replace at least these two with others. Consider what you are looking for in a school. Size? Culture? Some people going to high caliber schools never consider how happy they will be there. Then they end up going home after one year.

Your 650 writing takes you down a bit too for Stanford. One more - you are not top 5%.
I would be careful about a list with all stretch schools. A suggested model is 2-4-2, safety schools - 50:50 chance - reach schools.

Purdue was an excellent suggestion. I would try to identify some other schools which are very good but not all stretch schools as suggested by your list. Georgia Tech would be an excellent addition to your list, about on par with Michigan maybe a bit easier to get into.

Hope this helps and good luck
