Chance me? (Engineering)

Hi, I’m new here and I’m freaking out about college. A few schools I’m looking at are

  • Colorado School of Mines (visited)
  • Cal Poly SLO
  • Oregon State
  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute
  • Willamette University (?)

My GPA is really bringing me down because it is right around 3.4 weighted, which sucks. My ACT is 31 and my SAT is 1880. By the time I graduate I will have 7 varsity letters, will have been president of a school club for 2 years, and will be an Eagle Scout. I understand that CSM is a reach but I’m hoping that I can get in so that I can prove myself. I really screwed up in high school because I was used to coasting through school so I didn’t apply myself. Looking back I’m PO’d at myself but I have to deal with it.

So…chance me? Also, I would like to major in Mech. Engineering so if you have any other suggestions, feel free to say them.

Thanks.

I will only comment on Cal Poly SLO: Reach
Averages this year are GPA: 4.13 (CP GPA) SAT (M+CR): 1419 ACT: 32

Cal poly uses 9th-11th grades in their GPA calculation and will give you 8 extra points for AP/IB or UC approved Honors classed (8 semesters or 4 year long taken in 10-11th grade).

Cal Poly SLO is a weird one. It rejects high GPA and highish ACT. One kid from my daughter’s high school got 34 ACT, very high weighted GOA like 4.54 but was rejected. I don’t know why.

Thanks guys. Anyone have anything to say for the other schools?

Anyone?
