Do I have a good chance of getting into San Diego State University, UC Santa Barbara (Ik this is a long shot+my UC gpa is 3.3), OSU, Syracuse University, Penn State, Michigan State, or Purdue?
I’m kinda new to this, but if you chance me I will try to chance you back. Thanks!
SDSU uses the eligiblity index to rank applicants by major. Your EI is 966. An EI of 950 and above, gives you a good chance for an acceptance. UCSB will be a reach especially since average UC GPA is 4.03, but they take EC’s and your essays into consideration, so they could give you a boost. You do realize with the California schools you will be full pay???
SDSU will cost around $31K/year and UCSB around $55K/year. You will receive little to no FA as an OOS applicant, so this is something to consider when you are applying.
@Gumbymom Thank you!
Money is not really a problem in my household, so I’m just going to see where I fit best when I visit the colleges.
For UCSB, is there anything I can do that they take into special consideration to up my chances of getting in? (Besides getting GPA up to 3.4-3.5ish W which it should be by the end of this school year.) Any special ECs that hold more weight or anything like that?
For EC’s, do what you love. National awards will definitely help, but only something few applicants can put on their applications. I suggest you look at the UCSB decision thread from this year’s Freshman class and see what are some of the accepted students EC’s listed. Good Luck
@gumbymom Thank you!
