Thanks so much for getting this far. Enjoy your holiday weekend

Your stats put you in the running for all of them. For Tulane, you must discuss the academic offerings and how they fit into your career plans, as well as an appreciation of New Orleans and the school’s extensive relationship with it via community service by its students, faculty and staff. Also mention the “happiest students”, “best city”, and “quality of life” rankings. (I believe there are a few others out there as well.) Having an interest in international studies and the school’s study abroad programs would be a plus as well. In brief, Tulane wants to keep this “happy students” thing going, and they do not want to accept students who are not excited to be there – they are a downer at Tulane and everywhere. People with your (stellar) stats get rejected all the time from Tulane because they did not do the above, and the disappointed applicants come to this site to express their frustration. Congratulations on a job very well done and best of luck to you.

@NJDad68 thanks for your long reply.
Yeah I have picked up that Tulane hates being the rebound school for high-stat applicants.

I’ve already visited, gone to my school’s info session, talked with my rep, wrote to her, thanked her (with handwritten card).

Tulane is my #1 right now, but I am probably going to apply to Penn ED because of my legacy status and because I could probably come to like Penn just as much.

Your info on the “Why Tulane” info was really helpful, and I’ll be sure to look back here when I am writing my supplement for guidance.

Enjoy your holiday.

What’s your unweighted gpa? I’m at Umich Ross and you shouldn’t have a problem getting into Umich but for pre-admit I don’t think so because your ec’s aren’t super strong. But if your essays are spectacular than you’ll have a much better chance.
