Ok so heres the deal. My aunt went to Milton graduated in the class of '04 went on to Harvard. Milton also has great sports nd a great campus so thats on my list. Went to the Andover summer session nd had my interview LOVED THE SCHOOL so thats #1, and Deerfield is just an all rounded school n im having n open house + interview there soon.

Ok I'm in 8th grade and I'mm rlly freaking out cuz theres tons of competition for all of these schools but im cooling down because I have faith that I can get in.

Ok so heres how it goes

7th grade I was a straight A student across the board with ONE "B" in science which still put me on honor roll for all three trimesters so thats good

8th grade
I am on the Basketball team but we dont have captains or anything so its more or less recreational
I play Baseball,Football,Lacrosse, and Tennis recreational but I might do them in BS
I am on a soccer team I'm a striker same thing wit the captains they dont rlly hv em
I was chosen to be a Lector which is an 8th grade privilege in my school for quote "8th grade students who excel in English and can read and project their voice loudly". A lector is a reader in church(catholic) who says the gospel readings to the members of the church during masses and this year out of 40+ kids only 14 were chosen and I was one of them.
I was selected to be part of the CTY Global Talent search from getting a 99th percentile on the ITBS(Iowa Test of Basic Skills) and I will have to take the SAT to start off the process.
I am yet to take the SSAT and I will take in in December of 2010 this year.
I was the youngest person in my school's history to ever be invited to the LI Catholic Honor Band when I was in 5th grade and I was the youngest person to be invited to the LI Wind Ensemble (which is only meant for 8th graders and good 7th graders) when I was in 6th grade.
I was also part of the NYSSMA ALL-COUNTY Band in 7th Grade which is the best concert band for 7th and 8th graders on Long Island (not opinion based).
I was also chosen to go on a People To People Ambassador Trip in 7th grade as well as this year (China for 7th) (Europe for 8th) and I am still contemplating on whether I should go or not.
I also completed 10 hours of service for 7th grade last year (Which is quite low but I'm aiming higher this year) and I will try and complete up to 50 this year for 8th grade.

so thats basically it and if there's anything else I'll be sure to add it. I know I'm not the most "outstanding" applicant but I know I have a chance at 1 or 2 BS's and if you recommend others for me please do so and please chance me.

You seem like a pretty good candidate to me. But is there anything that you’re really passionate about? From your explanation, i couldn’t find your “main” extracurricular.

Don’t think into what I said too much though. I’m also an 8th grader applying, so i’m not all that experienced.

PS Andover is one of my #1 picks too! I visited it and loved it. But honestly, I’ve loved every school I’ve visited. I would be so happy to go to any of them.

ivy-
While I think these chances threads (desperate students who have not yet been admitted asking other desperate students if an OA they’ve yet to meet will like them) are less than useless I’ll answer the question you should be asking :-)

“What can I do to turn in the strongest possible application?”

One thing I’ve heard repeatedly from admissions professionals is that schools want to get a clear picture of who you are. They’ll get a slew of applications from kids with good grades, high test scores and experience in sports, the arts and community service. But who are YOU? What will you bring to the school community? Will you contribute to student government, sports teams, the school band or something else entirely?

If I were you I would:
-Highlight your music. It sounds like something you’re both passionate about and good at.

-Consider writing about your experience as a lector, what it means to you and what you’ve learned from it. It’s an experience not many applicants will have had.

-Think about how you want to present your sports experience. A year or two of six different sports could make you look like someone willing to try new things or it could make you appear to be a dilettante (how’s that for an SSAT word? ;-)). It all in how you frame it for schools.

-Scratch the fluff like People to People Ambassadors (anyone can recommend you, including kids who have received invitations) and CYT (anyone who’s likely to have the scores to get into a top BS and who’s taken a few standardized tests will get an invitation) unless you’ve actually done the programs. An invitation alone doesn’t mean anything other than that you’re a bright student, and the OA reading your application will see that from your test scores and grades.

-List what you did for community service rather than the number of hours. The school may ask you to list the number of hours (if so, obviously comply) but you want them to remember you and what you did for your community, not simply that you had the numbers 10 and 50 next to your name. Tell them why you chose the CS activity you did.

I think you’ve got a good chance. Strong extra-curriculars and good grades. How do you think you did on the SSATs? (Scores should be coming out very soon if they’re not already out, I believe?) How were your essays?
I’m pretty sure that the interview and the essays are the biggest part in your application.

Well I dont need your reccomendation and I dont care about some stupid statistics I know that I’m gonna get in because guess what? I have faith!

Public school … and you dont even know anything about me so you cant do any of the bunkel crap and your a bigger moron for making yourself look like a stalker. And you think some bunkel “PREDICTOR” is gonna choose my chances of getting into high schol id think so
