Chance Me! (For Biological Sciences)

Hello! I hear a lot of talk for people majoring in CS or Engineering, so I was curious what people thought are my chances, since I’m going in for a major in Bio! What d’ya think are my chances for UC Irvine?

Major: Biological Studies

Unweighted CGPA: 3.52
Weighted GPA: 4.23
SAT: 1720 (590 R/670 M/460 W)

9th: Biology H/English 1H/Geometry H/World History H/French 1
10th: Chemistry H/English 2H/Alg2+TrigH/AP European/French 2
11th: AP Environmental/English 3H/PreCalc H/AP US/French 3H
12th: AP Chemistry/AP Lang/AP Calc/AP Gov/AP French/Guitar

EC: Executive ASB President, Drama Club VP, NHS Secretary, Track & Field Varsity Captain, 200 Hours of Hospital Volunteer Work, and University of San Diego Microbiology Summer Intern.

I know my SAT is pretty mediocre so I’m hoping my GPA balances that out. So, yeah, thanks for taking the time to read this!

your unweighed gpa is kinda weak, and so is your sat score, but i believe you should get in due to your extensive involvement. Good luck!

@SteezyZ Thanks! Well, all I can do now is hope for the best. I have a countdown clock til March 14, since that’s when UCI rolled out regular decisions last year, and they followed the same pattern with CHP/Regents, so yeah! Again, thanks!

Your stats seem better than my roommate who applied as a bio major. He was accepted as an undeclared though and plans on switching into bio.

Low Reach/High Match: UC GPA is probably around 3.8-3.9?? SAT score is low for Biology which is very competitive at UCI. EC’s look good and good essays will help. UCI has a tendency to accept High GPA and will be more forgiving with a lower SAT. Calculate your UC GPA to give posters a better idea.

@Gumbymom, If I did this correctly, I believe I have a 3.79, if it makes any difference. Also, thank you for your insight! :), So what does Low Reach/High Match mean exactly? I’m still new the lingo of CC because I just joined, well, literally today, haha. EDIT: I just googled it, thanks! I hope I make it.

@OneDeaged, Yeah, I should have went undeclared because I still have no clue as to what I want to do! Thanks!

Low Reach is like a 40%-50% chance of acceptance. Really depends on your essays and ECs at this point. Also, I’d say luck will take a large role as well. Good luck.

Please chance me for Cal Poly SLO:

@smileesarefree‌ Ah, thanks! I guess I gotta just count down the days until they post the results, haha.

Also, if it makes any difference, I’m also a CA resident.
