-Can get good recommendations/write good essay

Thanks :)

Boston College- Reach
Northwestern- Reach
NYU- Match/ Low reach
Columbia- High reach
George Washington- Idk

Bottom line: you have a shot at all the aforementioned (idk anything about GW)

CR and W realistic, but you really should hope for a much higher math to be competitive… 650s def NOT going to do it for BC or Columbia.

Your lack of APs may hurt you for Columbia, but high schools typically send a “portrait” of your school at a glance, explaining the courseload offered. Check with your guidance counselor. Usually, a GC’s report will mention if you’re taking the toughest courseload possible at your school.

Your ECs show depth, and that’s great. Passion for journalism is clear here.

Oh, and remember that the key to a good teacher rec is how well they know you outside of the classroom, personally. That counts so much more than grades. Colleges look for personality, not a litany of generic praises.

Chance me?

Boston College- match (you’ll get in, although its pretty tough, your scores look solid)
Northwestern- low reach
NYU- match
Columbia- High reach (columbia’s application process is ridiculous and your lack of APs will hurt you, no doubt. should get your math score up if you wanna get in here)
George Washington- low match, could be a safety. admission to GW isn’t tough.

chance me too!

i’d say if you score a little higher on your SAT’s than what you predict I would say that you will have a good shot at all of those schools. Judging solely from your GPA and EC’s, BC and NYU will be matches, NWU and Columbia will be reaches but you have a good chance and GW will be a safety for you.

Thanks guys, ik Columbia is basically a major reach haha but i love it soooo oh well
I’ll try to chance you all backkk

bump bump bump

bump again :)

Boston College- 40%
Northwestern- ED 35%, RD 25%
NYU- Depends on SAT, if you break 1900, 70%
Columbia- 15%; ED 20%
George Washington- ED: 80%, RD: 60%

BC - Match
Northwestern - Low Reach
NYU - Match
Columbia - Reach
GWU - Low Match

Work on improving that Math score and that will greatly help your chances.

thanks!

bump

Try to take as many APs as possible! Great ECs! And, consider taking the ACT too to see how you do on those.
These are just based on your estimates:
Boston College- high match
Northwestern- high match to low reach
NYU- match
Columbia- reach
George Washington- i’m not sure

BC: Solid. Don’t stress over this, you’re pretty much in. Not TOTALLY in, but I’d be shocked if you were rejected.
Northwestern: Low reach. You can definitely achieve this if you grab some good APs and work hard next year. You’re close!
Columbia: It’s really a toss of the coin here, but so are all of us. Keep up the good work!
NYU: So, what are you gonna do once you see that acceptance letter in the mail? Throw a party?
GW: Not sure, since I have little acquaintance with the school.

If I were you, I’d take a good look at Emerson College in Boston, MA over BC. It’s got one of the best Journalism programs in the country with reputable alumni, and judging by your post, it would be easy for you to get in as well as a solid place where you’d fit right in :)

Thanks alpha
I’m probably going to look at Emerson, I loved Boston College (more for its sports/people/Core than for journalism, though they do have it there) and Boston in general, so I’ll check out other schools there for sure!

Great SATS, GPA, ECs, RANK! Make sure your recommendations and essays are in great shape and you should be expecting fat packets in the mail for all your choice universities ;-). Btw, thanks for your “chancing” with my stats.

thank you! i hope sooo

Columbia’s ridiculously difficult to get into so who knows. Northwestern’s a little easier than Columbia but still highly unpredictable. For NYU CAS and Stern you’ll probably need around 2150 and 2250, respectively. For the other NYU schools, above 2000 will be sufficient given your high rank/GPA. BC is very similar to NYU in terms of admissions difficulty. You should get into GWU.

thank youu for the insight bdl

thanks morgansimone!

bump
