I just did an alumnus interview for Bowdoin College, and I would love to go to a liberal arts school. She really liked me and said she would put in a good word for me. I also did a regular interview with Lewis & Clark College and will do another alumnus interview for Carleton College. Could someone chance me for these three LACs?

I've only taken three years of science - will this hurt me in the admissions process?

Extracurriculars:
Theatre for 3 years, Newspaper for 3 years (editor/reporter), Academic Decathlon (Scholastic team member this year) for 2 years, Model UN for 2 years (won an award at last year's city conference)

Recommendations: One from my WHAP/Decathlon teacher, another from my Newspaper sponsor.

How rigorous/well-known is your high school? That will definitely have an impact on how adcoms view your class rank and GPA, especially since your AP scores are so good.

My high school is very competitive/very well known in my state, so maybe that’ll help. I would be in the top quarter or top 15% easily at any other school. Should I send my AP scores?

hey thankd for the chance
it seems like you have good chance at bowdoin, don’t know about the other colleges, but good luck:)
oh i am not a paa- ji, i am girl, i love bhangra though

There’s a space for AP scores on the Common App, and by all means fill it out. :)

In light of your high school background, I would still call Bowdoin and Carleton slight reaches, based on anecdotal evidence. You’ve definitely got a decent shot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into at least one of them. You should be good for Lewis and Clark.

I looked at my school’s scattergram for bowdoin (not familiar with the other schools, sorry) and for the most part, people who got accepted have a slightly higher GPA, around 4. GPA’s the only thing that’s a bit low, but I definitely think you make up for it in extracurricular activities. And also, since you said you were interviewed and the person seemed to really like you, that’s a plus I think you have a good shot.

I hope my GPA/rank don’t hurt me. I think I wrote some really good essays (I hope they can swing me).

A few questions: Will my minority/geographic status help at an LAC? Also, I know I posed this question before, but how will taking only three years of science affect me? I calculated my academic index on the front page, and it said I was a ‘competitive’ applicant, so will the other factors come into play when I’m applying?

URM will help. How much, IDK. I think yuor a match for Bowdoin, but your GPA is going to hurt you. Since the interview went well, I think you have a little less to worry about.
