Well I’m no expert but I’d say you have a very good shot.

bump

All of these look pretty solid, but beware of Tufts Syndrome…

@KingBibi what is Tufts Syndrome?

Oh just kidding I got it. I don’t think I’m even close to overqualified for any of these schools though lol

Tufts Syndrome is an alleged practice of some colleges, more formally called “yield protection.”

A college’s “yield” is the percentage of admitted students who actually accept their offer and enroll. It’s good for a college to have a high yield because it shows how attractive the college is to prospective students – very important when it comes to gaming the U.S. News rankings.

Tufts has a bit of a bad reputation for denying very qualified students such as yourself, on the suspicion that you’re just “using” them as a safety, and that you probably wouldn’t enroll if you were admitted, since you most likely got into a more-selective school. By doing that and only admitting people they think have a good chance of actually enrolling, the goal is to artificially keep their yield high.

Naturally, no one from Tufts, or any other college, will ever admit to doing this, but there’s a lot of evidence that it does happen. So, don’t find it too odd if you get into Brown, but waitlisted at Tufts.

@KingBibi I understand now. Do you think my chance at getting into Brown is decent? I was hoping my essays made me stand out but I’m honestly not sure anymore

Best shot is Wellesley

@ClarinetDad16 would Wellesley be a match then?

Could be
