Chance me for BU?

I know it’s kind of early, but I’m already super stressed about applying to schools next year!

I’m a junior.
Weighted GPA: ~3.7
I’m taking the SAT in June, but all my practice tests/PSATs have scored me around 1900
My class rank is tricky. I got to an incredibly large and competitive school; we’ve had several people go to Princeton, Cornell, UCLA, Williams College, Northwestern, etc. There are 540+ students in my class and the top ten of my class have well over 100 GPAs. I hope to be ranked under a 100.

I’m in AP US History and AP Language and Composition. I’m registered to take AP Bio, AP Lit, AP Psych, and AP Environmental next year. I took 2 honors freshmen year and 2 honors sophomore. I’m also taking honors physics right now (in my school, it’s rigor is equivalent to AP physics but I doubt colleges will know that).

For extracurriculars:
-Volunteer work: tutoring, community theater work, nursing home, hospital, and working with charities like GISHWHES and Susan G. Komen
-I danced competitive for 4 years and quit at the end of my freshmen year in high school to focus on school. I won several awards and acknowledgements through competitive events.
-I’m a part of my school’s FCCLA and have consistently won gold medals for my hand sewn garments in the Fashion Runway competition.
-I’m stage manager for my school’s drama club.
-I’m part of the International Thespian Society, currently awaiting acceptance to NHS.
-Other clubs: Gay-Straight Alliance, Science League, Choir (3 different ones), Newspaper Club, Table Tennis Federation.

Misc: Other than English, I’m fluent in Polish. My siblings and I are the first of our family to go to college.

What is your unweighted GPA? Assuming unweighted it’s lower than 3.7 and with your projected SAT score, I’d say you’re low match based purely on stats. Of course, if you can edge that SAT up above a 1900, it would be hugely beneficial. Course load looks good.

That said, I like your ECs and I think if you can write some colorful/specific essays, you could stand out from the pack. You should write about GISHWHES just because it’s so unique… you could write about some of the crazier things you had to do for it  What do you want to major in at BU?

@proudterrier Thank you very much! My unweighted is a 3.4 (Ah! I know!). I will definitely work to get my SAT score up.
As for my major, you would think I want to do something with theater based on my ECs! But I have a broad range of interests. I want to do a premed track but major in something not completely related like English (my backup plan is to become an English teacher! Like I said, I’m all over the place) or something like psychology.
Also, I think I’m going to apply early decision. I feel like doing so would really showcase how dedicated I am to the school and how enthusiastic I am.
