Employment
After volunteering they offered me a job at the library. I have been working there for one year
Now here is where I hope to wow them, even though my SAT scores don’t match their stats and that is on my college essay. The thing that seems more impressive and that shows that I truly had to work twice as hard than everyone else is the fact that I moved to the United States during my sophomore year, from Cape Verde. My credits transferred and didn’t reflect my true grades, granted the courses are a lot harder and vigorously graded. Just as an example my credits transferred as all college prep courses (not even AP) and there were a couple of A’s and B’s leaving me with a freshmen gpa of 3.6. And now senior year I compensated it all with 5 AP Courses, to which I currently have all A’s. In fact, ever since freshmen year, each american course that I have taken, I have received A’s (my senior year courseload gpa is 4.87!) Another struggle is that for these last three years I have lived away from my parents who are in CV. I only live with my uncle, yet he has his own life. I struggled to find transportation or even rides to events to school and work. I knew nothing about US History, yet finished my junior year with a 93 on APUSH. I had to do EVERYTHING by myself, being homesick and now facing this new country by myself. It was hard. English is also not my main language. I know 4 languages in fact, I love culture and exploring things!
Recommendation from physics, guidance counselour and english teacher!
