Ughh my dream school is CalTech bc its kinda close to home and the Jet Propulsion Lab <3

Ya I know my ECs are super scattered and my awards are too lame for CalTech, but I still have hope!
I WILL CHANCE BACK! Just leave me a link under your comment!

THANK YOU!

Do you ever sleep? Seems like you are a very strong candidate for any school. You can’t possibly have thought otherwise. But naturally nobody is a shoe in for any school. Harvard would probably like to have you since they are trying to bolster their engineering. Oddly that might be a better bet then CalTech or MIT. You seem very very strong for all your others too.

Caltech is a reach but the others are more high matches/match . Pretty sure you’ll get in all but caltech . Caltech is more of a maybe. Perhaps 20% chance of getting in there?

Caltech- Reach for everyone
Georgia Tech- Match
Rice- Low Reach

GaTech/VaTech should be an in. I can see you getting into any combination of like half the others on your list, but many are crapshoots so there are no guarantees. Best of luck!

bump?

Your chances are good at Rice.

@ScienceGirlMom Yay! Though im still not sure whether im ready to move to texas. haha

@lostaccount haha I wish I could multitask, sleep while practicing cello. I guess I’ll pray on harvard also haha. Thank you

High reach for Caltech, Reach to low reach for other ivies.

Something I learned here today: you need to have taken AP Calculus (or equivalent) to have a chance at GTech. I don’t see that in OP unless I missed it.

All these people guaranteeing you for all but Caltech did not read your post. You have 3 ivies and Stanford and MIT. Those are universal reaches. And the above poster is right. You need AP calculus for quite a few top tech schools. I also just learned this today. Virginia Poly is basically a safety. Well, since you’re shooting for engineering it is more of a low match. Gtech and Rice should be in. Umich and Vandy may be a tad more holistic, but you have a lot of ECs and you’ve gone into a lot of depth with regards to dedication. Congrats on being an amazing applicant tho.

@2muchquan @ADonkeyFly Thank you both for your replies! Yes I am in AP Calc BC this year. My school has a weird system where they make you take AP statistics before you take AP Calc… so Calc BC is the highest math class you can be in as a senior

I think you have a great chance at Georgia Tech i’d say thats a match school for you. Your stats are great so i think you have a decent chance at Rice as well but Caltech is a reach for everyone. Good luck with your applications. Chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18985013#Comment_18985013
