Chance me for CAS?

<p>I'm currently a high school junior at a small public high school.
Our school does not rank or weight GPA's, and we have a very limited amount of AP classes.</p>

<p>I'm going to be applying ED for Penn, as it is my top choice. I fell in love with the school when I visited. :)</p>

4 weeks in Chile (amazing experience!) through PIA (see EC's)-- homestay, travel, comm. service
3 week course at Brown University on Organics and Biochem</p>

<p>After 11th:
4 weeks in Taiwan through AID Summer teaching English to elementary students in rural areas of Taiwan (400 chosen out of 1000+ applicants)
(Also got accepted in the UPittsburgh Health Scholars Program, but couldn't go because of time conflicts)</p>

<p>But what does superscore mean? Is that the best of each individual section put together from different test dates? Why do people do that? I know Adcoms always say that they will focus on your best scores, but thats not how it comes printed on your admissions file. I did work-study in the adcom office - it prints the scores on a separate line for every test administered. Sure, they can say they take the best scores- but I don’t think they’re actually sitting there nitpicking and summing and saying “Ms. A” has 70 points total higher than “Mr. B”. just fyi!</p>

I don’t really know why people use the superscore. In my case, my nerves got the better of me the first time i took it and i tanked the test. The second time I did nearly 300 points better. 2250 was the sum of my second, I only slipped up in reading. I’m hoping that my act scores and sat scores will balance each other out.</p>
