Which program within CFA? And what is your portfolio’s strength?

I’m guessing by those stats that you’re seeking to enter the drama program. However, unless your repertoire is very, very, very strong, keep in mind that drama’s acceptance rate is rumored to hover around… like 2-3%. There are around 15 students per year (maybe 30-ish accepted), and many thousands apply.

Dramaturgy, and I have no idea how strong my portfolio is.

Oh… you’re the dramaturgy poster a few threads down. Okay. (Sorry - I didn’t register that it was the same username.)

If you don’t mind my asking, why do you want to study dramaturgy? It doesn’t seem as though there is much demonstrated interest in the arts in your application, and it does not seem as though you have done dramaturgical work before. It may help people chance you better if they know what your motivations and relevant experience are with the major you’re intending to study at CMU.

Theater is currently the only thing in my life i find complete intrinsic value in. I have participated in every show at my high school since freshman year and got an internship at one of the finest theatres in New England. However, I don’t believe that my academic side will be nurtured or appreciated enough in a performance major. I found this program, and dramaturgy itself that combines my love for theater, english, and history (my two favorite academics) to be a perfect fit to my desires. Also, i go to a poorly funded, over crowded public high school, so theater arts classes are essentially non-existent.
