English B- - did bad first semester, nearly failed. However, got a B+ second semester by learning from trial and error

Applying to UChicago and Caltech, but I have a low chance of getting in

other schools?

You definitely need to bring your scores up.

with 8 c’s, good luck buddy. you’ll need it

Just eyeballing your scores, you will have around a B- average. I wouldn’t even apply to those schools, considering your scores are good enough but not excellent, without at least a B+ average (3.3).

Probably not so great, I would focus on finding some less selective schools that you feel you could be happy at.

My cousin goes to Cornell and she had 4.0 unweighted with 5 APs…
She was in some ECs but Cornell doesn’t care much unless your grades are higher than most.

I think you could try NYU! That’d be a better fit.

asian male with those grades you’re gone in 3 seconds

Your whole list is mega-reaches. Not good, you need to talk to your counselor and get some realistic schools.

code97

If you’re in an Ivy Prep school, I’m going to assume that you have an extensive college guidance group. Have you spoken to them about your list.

As others mention, your grades look low for most of the schools you mention (even taking into account that you come from a competitive school). Still, apply to a couple of these, just so you don’t spend your life wondering whether you could have made it. But perhaps consider them to be your ‘reach schools’.

In your favor, you have taken a highly competitive course load, and your math/science grades generally look good.

So, what you’re going to be looking for is a school that emphasizes standardized scores, and is looking for people who are strong in math/science.

Fortunately, most of the preps have people who have done this work for you.

Good luck!!
