also would like to know my chances for Brookyn Latin, Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Deerfield, Exeter, Andover, Poly Prep, and of course the above listed, Collegiate.

Hey I saw your post after you commented on mine–I am from Ohio but my father recently moved into that sort of area in NYC and I know a ton of friends who I know through squash who go to lots of those schools. I think you’d be an excellent candidate for all of them–I was supposed to attend Poly Prep this past year for my junior year, but had to switch plans late in the summer. I definitely think you would be a strong candidate for Poly Prep, coming from a girl who was accepted mid year but had to decline. If you haven’t already, another great school in that area is St. Ann’s; I know a lot of people who go there and it’s a great atmosphere. Very hard to get into past 10th grade however–I’m not sure what grade you are in so I don’t know. My good friend is at Deerfield currently, he switched 10th grade but had to repeat 9th grade because each class is very small and very limited on who they accept, however based on what you’ve provided, I’m sure you would be a strong candidate! Seriously, for all the schools you provided, I believe you’re a very fit candidate and they would be crazy to overlook you!!!

Thank you, I am in 8th grade, I am not rich, but my dad recently passed away :(, he left me 500,000 dollars for my high school and college funds. I have a 4 gen legacy at Stanford, so if I go to one of these schools I hope I can get in there. So I would be able to pay tuition in full, one EC I forgot to mention was I won my regional spelling bee but could not attend the nationals, unfortunately my father died that weekend, please tell me if this changes my chances.

if you don’t mind could you do the
Name-Low Reach/ High Reach/Match?

I’m so sorry about your loss! My grandfather who I was very close to, who was like my father passed away last Monday as well. I am sure you will get into any of these–especially if you are going to pay full tuition. And I’m sure the spelling bee will not change your chances of getting in anywhere! And actually, this is my first chances really so I’m not even sure how to do that, I’m just a 17 yr old girl on this website posting things to make my anticipation for March 10th to go away But yeah…ahh I am not so sure how to do that!

17? I thought you were going into high school?

Also thanks for the reply, It helps take away the anxiety, I’ve been freaking out. I have got to get the reply from the school, my friends at school are laid back about education, and they look at me like im a freaking zombie.

No I said in my first comment I was in 11th grade! I am switching from my independent private day school to a boarding school next year though. To repeat my 11th year and finish 12th.

oh ok

Haha no problem at all really! You were the first to reply to mine-- and I posted that a while back so I’ve been freaking out because a lot of people viewed it but nobody commented so yeah! And I feel the same way, really. My school is very rigorous, yet people are very laid back, and they don’t know what I’m feeling really. Don’t freak out though-- you have it pretty easy. I wish I thought about boarding school when i was in 8th grade. I tried to switch last year, but with switching mid year…that is so difficult if you don’t have connections and cannot pay in full. Don’t panic though! You’re doing so well as a student and there’s no need to have a lot of anxiety at this point! All we have to do is wait. I just wish I did all of this sooner. I was originally just going to switch for my senior year, however, that is just not a great idea really; because I would just go straight into college applications this fall and I don’t think I’m ready. I would like another chance and take more classes and surpass the curriculum and then decide where I want to attend college or university. :)

It is funny, I have been thinking about this since I was in sixth grade, I wanted to go to collegiate since I was rejected from Poly prep for Pre-school(how long do they keep those records?) and I thought so far ahead I was working out what Law firm I want to work for(Quinn Emanuel BTW) and where I was going to live LOL.

Wow I wish I had it like that aha. My father moved to NYC just a year ago and the rest of my family is still in Ohio/ college and so we’ve been all over the place and I was supposed to move to NYC but didn’t because of my current school…and then it just hit me…I need boarding school haha. I have one friend at collegiate but most of them attend either St. Anns or Poly Prep. Actually my good friend is the squash coach for both of those schools. (I would definitely recommend squash) And that is so good that you’ve already thought of that! I still can’t even think about what I’d like to do :/

I fact I know the 5 types of law I want to practice, and I have done squash, and volleyball I played for a couple of years but tennis and basketball seem more mainstream and much more fun to me to be honest. No offense to you

5 types are:
Intellectual Property Litigation(Patents and Copyrights)
Tax Litigation(IRS and Tax Refunds)
Real Estate Litigation(Working out closings)
Plaintiffs’ Litigation(Classic courtroom lawyer)
Entertainment and Media Litigation(Working out contracts with actors)

No I love tennis as well! I grew up playing both actually. Alas for most boarding schools, all 3 sports are required so squash is always great winter sport! I’ve played it junior professionally since I was 7 and what happens through the junior squash program is that we attend 12-14 high level tournaments at places like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Williams, Amherst, etc for tournaments and we end up getting recruited to play in college. My sister was recruited for Amherst not long ago. It’s a nice and fun sport that gets you places if you’re good. Just a perspective but no offense at all! And that is super cool about law, my sister is currently in pre-law.

I take X-Country in fall Basketball In winter and Tennis/x-Country/Swimming in Spring
