Chance me for Columbia ED and Georgetown EA

Okay, so posting this is extremely scary, being that I don't have an average Ivy profile. However, I'm a person of cold blood, so harsh commenst are fine.

GPA:3.2W
(My freshman year was really bad)
SAT: 1610 [Math:510, Reading:530, Writing:570]
SATII: [[US History:560, Lit.:460]]
Class Rank: 107/507 (So bad, I know)
Intended Major: Political Science

Interview for CU: AMAZING! We talked as though we were long-time friends.
Interview for GU: :/ it was okay.

I'm not the average profile, like I said, but I think my potential is great.

Leadership:
Senior Class President, Elected
Co-Captain of our school's Cheer team
Editor-in-Chief of school's literary and arts magazine

Part time Barista at Starbucks

AP Courses:
US History
English
Psychology

Columbia has always been my dream school and it's also close to my home. Although I know that have like a 1% chance of getting in, I will definetaly need closure time after getting rejected.

I am extremey involved in anything that pertains to school: function advertisement, parents night, class-wide meetings, etc.
It is almost as though I'm a staff member at my school; I am highly respected by both students and staff.

I also lead an after-school program of 15 Freshman ('AT-RISK' teens) whom I help twice a week. I am basically their mentor, and my students have been the most successful out of the 5 classes thus far.

I live at my school, basically :/

I also love Boston University, it is amazingly beautiful. Where else should I look into?

Once again, I am very scared, please help.

I don’t understand how you both EDed to Columbia and EAed to Gtown.

But that aside, your chances of being accepted at either school are very, very low. Unfortunately, there is really no portion of your application that can be considered strong by any stretch of the imagination.

BU seems like a much more reasonable reach.

OK, you asked for bluntness–even BU will be a major reach.

These schools will bend a little on grades if you offer something they want, but they can’t bend a lot. It would be unfair to have someone with a 530 score compete with kids whose scores are hundreds of points higher.

BU is a reasonable reach so give it a try if your family can afford it, it’s not a great school for financial aid. But please, make sure you have some safeties on your list which you like and your family can afford.

AT BILLY: Thanks  Your response definetaly did not stimulate any kind of shock, although I printed it and glued it into my journal (because your answer was perfectly correct, not because I was upset at it). I’m not ashamed of myself, really. I’m a great leader and mentor. And, yes, you can ED CU and EA GU.

AT 2COLLEGE: I understand, thanks. And thanks also for the Boston comment, didn’t hear that before.

I think your dream will remain a dream. Even your essays can’t save you.

I suggest that you revisit the admissions websites of each school, because you cannot Early Decision to Columbia and also Early Action to Georgetown.
