Chance me for Columbia ED and Ivies?

I'm a Canadian student and will be applying to schools this fall. I have researched and have found that Canadian and Mexican citizens are not regarded as international students in Ivy Leagues, per se; they have just as good a need-blind chance as any other American applicant. So if you chance, you don't have to factor in the international component.

Here are my stats, any help will be great.

Ethnicity: Indian, but with Canadian citizenship (I am not going to indicate my ethnicity on the applications)

SAT I:
Total - 2260
Math - 730
Critical Reading - 730
Writing - 800

SAT II: I haven't taken these yet, but am expecting 750+ in Biology, Math II, and Chemistry.

Unweighted GPA: 3.8 (This is according to the Canadian grading system where an A is 80+...but my cumulative percentage average is 85/100.)

Rank: My school doesn't rank, but I'm in the top 5% of my class out of about 500 people.

Courses Taken (Most rigorous my school has to offer; the counselor even tried to discourage me from taking the 12th grade courses multiple times):

9th Grade:
Math, Science, English, French, Phys. Ed, Technology, Music, Geography

10th Grade:
Math, Science, English, French, Phys. Ed, Technology, Canadian History, Civics/Careers

11th Grade:
Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Personal Fitness, Technology, English, Law (and American History in the summer)

12th Grade:
Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Calculus, English, Personal Fitness, Technology

In my school, we don't have any AP/IB classes; instead, we have 3 streams: University, Mixed, and College. University is considered to be like Honors, Mixed is normal, and College is below level. All my classes have been University level.

Extracurriculars:
DECA President (9, 10, 11, 12): I've made it to the Provincial Level every single time; last time I came top 20 out of about 100 teams. I'm President for 12th grade as well.

Investors of Tomorrow (11, 12): It's just like a mock investing club; stock prices change in real time and you're given $1,000,000 to invest. I will be on the Executive Team for this next year too.

Debate Club (11, 12): This is not really inter-school, it might be next year; it was started during my Junior year and we're preparing to take part in the school district competitions.

Intramural Basketball (9, 10,11): Mini leagues in my school; usually 3v3 teams. It runs throughout the year.

(Varsity) Basketball Team (12): Highest level basketball in my school. We play in tournaments in Ottawa and other cities outside of Toronto (where I live).

Bodybuilding (9, 10, 11, 12): I don't know if they would really count this as an extracurricular, but I've been lifting weights for 3 years and it has become a big part of what defines me. I could probably use this to show changes within my persona such as self-confidence, etc.

School Magazine (9, 10, 11, 12): I regularly wrote articles for my school magazine, and worked within the technical department (eg. layout, design, etc.)

Music: I played Alto Saxophone since grade 5; I was in the school band up until Grade 9, when I had to give it up in school. I still play outside of school.

Web Design Company (5 years): I run a web design company known as Total Pixelation Studios (you can see it at Total Pixelation Studios: Infinite Possibilites | Web Design, Web Development, Graphic Design, Print Design). I've had about 12 clients and have made thousands of dollars...it's a big part of my life, and I'm hoping universities will recognize my dedication and versatility through this.

Tutorial Website: I run a personal and professional blog that offers various tutorials for web design, and it has helped me to make a name for myself within the web design community. You can visit it at Apoorv Vaidya. Also, if you Google my name, it comes up

Community Service: I volunteered for about 80 hours at the local YMCA, helping in the children programs.

Schools I am going to apply to:
Columbia ED, HYPS, Cornell, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, NYU (if I get aid), Carnegie Mellon, Swarthmore

Thanks for any help, and I'll chance you back!

HYPS-you have an average shot. Crap shoots for everyone
CMU-I’d venture in, can’t imagine a rejection unless you’re doing engineering. That case, low reach
Columbia ED-errm…maybe. Like 60% chance
Swarthmore-great chance
NYU-don’t apply. they give crappy aid
Northwestern-decent shot

I dont think NW and CMU give aid to Canadians.

Thanks for the replies. If NYU or CMU don’t give financial aid, then I’m probably not going to apply.

bumpp…anybody?

Columbia ED - Low, possibly, Mid Reach
HYPS - High Reach
Cornell - Low Reach
Brown - Low Reach
Northwestern - Match
NYU - In
Carnegie-Mellon - Match
Swarthmore - High Match/Low Reach
JHU - High Match

Your stats are good and wide extracurriculars though they’re mostly local from what I can see
Columbia ED, HYPS, Brown - High Reach
Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Swarthmore, Cornell --Low/Medium Reach
NYU (if I get aid), Carnegie Mellon – Match

Good luck!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/795683-yale_scea-chances-thanks.html</a></p>

Hey thanks for the chances! I really hope I get into Columbia, it’s been like my dream LOL

Anyone else??

I think applying ED will be beneficial to you:) You are definitely competitive. I’d say that you get into several of those. Best of luck!

Thanks! Anyone else wanna chance me?

Johns Hopkins does not give financial aid to international students. I don’t know where you researched, but unless the counselors actually said that they are not considered international, then that is incorrect.

Is financial assistance available for international students?

Both need- and merit-based financial assistance is available for international applicants, although both types of assistance are limited. The admissions process for international students is need-aware, meaning the offer of admission is directly linked to the student’s ability to meet expenses.

Come on…any more people?

I don’t think you have a shot at HYP

columbia, 50/50
