Super worried about the fact that I have no engineering extracurriculars, as football basically sucks up all my time in the summer when I would hopefully be interning or researching.(not an excuse I know =( ).

bump

anyone?

WOW. You have amazing stats. You should not be worried. With these stats you could go to any school you want. You probably have over a 75% of getting accepted to Columbia ED. But even if you don’t, i am pretty sure you will get accepted to another ivy school regular decision.

bump

bump

I’d be very surprised if you were rejected ED.

@moliss‌ I think i’m probly going to get deffered. I’d give myself 15% chance of acceptance

you have a good chance. Submit your ACT score and maybe not your SAT I score since it is definitely lower comparatively. You have decent extracurriculars but you might be hurt because of the fact that Ivy Leagues have cut down on how many Asians they admit. However, you seem to be a definite candidate for Columbia.

@whuffy‌ already submitted both is that bad? also yea i know it sucks to be indian =(

it’s not bad. both scores are very good and a 2320 is still going to look good

@whuffy‌ yea I hope so. The only thing going for me is my scores/GPA i guess? My ecs arent that great, and I’m indian, and I don’t really have any engineering experience. However, I did talk about how football influenced my passion for engineering.

sometimes, scores are what you need to get you in the upper pool of applicants. the admissions people will then see if you have other things, and if your ECs are decent, you could just get in

@whuffy‌ haha yea true. Sigh 5 more days :’(

bump

Same story.

GPA and ACT can’t get any better. SAT is pretty close as well. As you said yourself your ECs are weak I would say dead average for this kind of school. However high test scores will balance your mediocre ECs. I would say if you felt that your essays were well written and you have demonstrated interest you will be accepted in a heartbeat. Making decisions on students like you are pretty clear cut and simple. It is more hard to predict students who have a mediocre SAT score of say 2150 or something and a GPA of 3.9 but have special ECs and great essays. They know you are qualified as soon as they read your numbers. They are now just looking for a reason to reject you. From what I can tell there is no dramatic reason. You will be accepted. I would bet money on it. ED shows your interest as well. Best of luck. Let me know if you got in! I applied to Wharton ED and I’m very nervous too :)
