Chance me for Columbia?

I am going into my sophomore year at the University of Miami, undeclared major (will be declaring a double major in Political Science and Literature, in all likelihood), and I am hoping to transfer to Columbia College. Chance me?

High School GPA: 4.1 Weighted
SAT: 750 Critical Reading, 670 Math, 770 Writing
College GPA: Semester 1 was a 3.46 but second semester was a 3.94, coming out to a 3.7 total. I only had one form of B, which was a B- in math first semester, consistent with other weaknesses. Outside of that, first semester I received two A- and one A, and this past semester I received four As.
Extracurriculars: In HS, Model UN, Mock Trial, and Teen Court. Very competitively ranked in all of those. In college, I have written for the campus magazine but there aren't many opportunities to join those teams freshman year.
Work Experience: 2 legal internships, both during high school.
Recommendations: I have excellent ones, and hopefully by the time I send in the application I will have one from a professor who used to teach Political Science at Columbia and who is excellent.

I am also attending Columbia as a Visiting Student this summer and taking four classes. Anyone want to chance me?

You are a competitive applicant, but you should be more involved in college. Are you a member of any clubs at University of Miami?

I agree with the above poster’s points, except I think you should be aware of technicalities that may get in your way.

Columbia prefers those who transfer as Sophomores, not juniors. They’re worried about you fulfilling the core on time.

Also, I was under the impression Columbia didn’t allow visiting students to later apply as transfers. You should check that.

“Visiting Students to Columbia College may not subsequently apply for transfer admission.”

Make sure you do not disqualify yourself from applying and withdraw from the summer program ASAP. If you want to be in the city in the summer, NYU also has a very good summer program that you could take part in.
