I think the best thing to do is look up the data sets for each school. My son had an ACT score of 35 and SAT of 2350 (he took both tests only one time.) His uw and w scores were slightly higher than yours, good ecs and so on.

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, the Ivy’s and Ivy-like schools simply expect sky high ACT, SAT and GPA. Of those three, GPA is the one they seem most interested in and least likely to overlook or balance out with something else.

My son was not accepted into Yale or Brown but is doing great at Northeastern University, which offered him a full, merit based tuition scholarship. There are a lot of excellent options out there for students who are not accepted into the top 20.

Although your GPA is a bit low, your SAT’s are outstanding. I think that maybe some colleges will overlook that. Your EC’s are also pretty good too. Cornell will definitely be a reach though, but I would say that you still have a chance.

actually, I believe the 4.39 GPA on the website is not the UC GPA, but it is just your average weighted A=5.0, B=4.0 GPA. I saw this on the UCLA webiste (I think). A UC GPA of 4.17 is then pretty good.

Thanks. I’m not sure if the UCs only look at the UC GPA.

Anyone else?

BTW, I’ve been wondering; is UMich really THAT hard to get into considering that its acceptance rate is almost 50%?
