Yes, I know my objective statistics are not that great, however I would like to think I am not 100% out of the race as I had applied to the ILR school, am in Cornell’s upward bound program, fall below the income guidelines, and my ACT isn’t HORRIBLE.

Thanks guys, best of luck on your acceptances!

Wow, what an upward trend! It really depends on how competitive your high school is and what that upward trend is actually worth. Everything else looks really good and shows that you have purpose. The URM and first generation hooks also help quite a bit. However, I feel like your scores and gpa hold you back a little too much, but I might be wrong and your ECs,recs, and essa might completely carry your application

“my ACT isn’t HORRIBLE.”

When applying to school as selective as Cornell, a 25 ACT score can be devastating, regardless of URM or First Generation status or income level. There’s only so much benefit a hook can provide. There will be many with your hooks who have higher scores. Take my advice with a grain of salt though, as I don’t know much about the HEOP program. Yes, you have a strong(ish) upward gpa trend and yes, you seem to have made the most of your circumstances. I really hope everything works in your favor, but I also hope you have applied to a couple safety schools.

Good luck and try not to stress about it!

I’m hoping I get in HEOP .Does anyone know when they let you know if you qualify for the HEOP program and if they are considering you ?
