Also, when does the Cornell H/EOP administration release admissions decisions? Are decisions released via email or mail?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

seem a little light to me. SAT is in the lower 25% Not much in EC’s nothing really compelling but you never know. You have other safeties also right?

@ceresma thank you for your response but since I am applying via HEOP (specifically for extreme lower class, normally inadmissible applicants) the standards are lower, so I was asking specifically for the HEOP standards, what my chances are for admission.

but thanks anyways!

Applying to College of Agriculture and Life Sciences via EOP.
I KNOW my stats are not strong…I was hoping to make up for it in other parts of my application such as essays and reccs. They already called me and told me I was being considered for HEOP and wanted more financial stuff, is that a good sign?

State: NY
Country: US
School Type: I go to the number one high school in queens and is ranked better than specialized high school such as Stuyvesant or Brooklyn Tech. Is this bad, because my school sends a good 10 kids to Cornell every year…
Ethnicity: My parents are from Guyana (country in the Carribean / South America)
Gender: Female
Hook: Ethnicity, first person to go to college.

Do you guys think I have a chance? I mean, if they called my home for financials, then I must have had okay grades for HEOP or else they wouldn’t waste their time with me…

BTW: Can people who actually understand the admissions requirements for HEOP answer this, because the admissions requirements for this program are different than those of the regular college…

hey harris759, i was wondering, have you had an interview with the EOP representative? Because (although I’m not sure if its true) i heard that an interview is required and if you don’t have one, then it basically means you have been rejected. I haven’t had mine yet, so I’m worried… have you?

I’ve heard so many different htigns about the interviews. I heard that it was required for the private colleges, such as A&S, but not for the contract colleges like CALS…but I’m not sure as to the truth of this statment.

I also hear that if you live a far away from Cornell they might not call you to come so far for a HEOP interview. I live 4.5 hours away from Cornell so I’m not sure if they would call me for one, and I also applied to CALS.

So, no. I did not have an interview with HEOP. I wasn’t orried before, but now you’ve put that thought into my head. I sent them in an extra supplemental essay along with the two that were required (common app. essay and Cornell supplement). I was deferred from ED.

Do you think I should call and ask about the interview? I called so the HEOP office so many times before…

I’m nervous that when they saw my additional financial documents I sent it they might have rejcted me because of that because they asked for them right about the time I heard cornell is “suposed” to contact you for a HEOP interview…so yes…I’m very nervous.

My opes kind of went down the drain when I did not get a diversity housing weeknd letter. I called the HEOP offices and they said their kids usually get one, so yea…

I’m guessing you go to Townsend Harris? ^ lol

You have a very good chance. Good luck.

i applied to cornell too through heop. i think your stats are a bit too high for heop.

did you guys get a notification saying that they need a federal vertification of your financial information. it says in my financial to do list that this form is due in may next year. it gave me this crazy idea…does this mean i’m admitted? i mean…why would they ask for this so late after decisions are out if i’m rejected? they randomly select 30% of fafsa apps to vertify but if i was rejected, why would they ask for it so late when i would already be in college?

I’m kind of in the same boat! HEOP and waiting. They called home and asked for financial stuff and asked if I could tell them the adjusted gross income over the phone (around 10k). Then she said something to somebody else and said I would be finding out probably April 1st. I am white? So does this mean I wouldn’t receive a diversity letter? I’m so worried :/

@grac3yy: I actually saw the same thing on my Financial Aid To Do List… The Federal Verification form is due 05/12… I wondered the same thing. It could be a mistake as well. :\ Have you called them to inquire or hear anything?? I’m applying as a transfer so I won’t get an acceptance/rejection until earliest mid-April… Do you know if you were accepted yet? If not I believe you find out tomorrow (if you’re freshman applicant that is)

Accepted!!! I applied H/EOP and was accepted! However, my online decision didn’t specify if my acceptance was through H/EOP?? But I had calls from the state programs office about tax form’s and everything. Does anybody know how to find out? Any other acceptees??? :)

@NVMCProgram I was actually just accepted to Cornell and Columbia but I have no idea whether it was through HEOP or not. I never had an HEOP interview and actually turned in some documents pretty late so I am confused as to whether it was an HEOP acceptance or not.

Me too! Ill probably call or have my counselor call tomorrow to harass em a bit and find out. I feel like it had to be through H/EOP!

hahah i totally feel the same way. i’m pretty sure there’s no way i would have gotten into cornell or columbia without HEOP!! i’m also calling the office tomorrow so we’ll see!

So I already got my acceptance letter in the mail and it was deffinetly through EOP! I cant wait for the summer program!

sat scores are so low at cornell :stuck_out_tongue: ughh hopefully students at cornell aren’t like state schools…
