Chance me for Cornell, Swathmore, Amherst, Harvard, Princeton, NYU, Chicago, Colgate

Hey guys, pretty reluctant doing this but I kinda have to because I really don’t know where I stand.

International student here. School system doesn’t have GPA, no AS levels, only A levels after next year so I’ll be applying with predicted grades:

My predicted grades for Grades 11-12 are:
(Non AP): A,A
AP: A,A,A,B

My CV is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7915658/Resume%20Without%20Personal%20Info.pdf

I look around College Confidential and see tons of high achieving students and would really like a reality check if I even have a decent shot at the schools I would like to apply to.

Extra Info: 1st gen student.
Will require aid.
Asian descent

I’ll provide some advise you are free to ignore:
drop that elementary and middle school stuff. Think about what really matters. That resume was basically, too long, and most of it was not important. Being a participant in Google Science Fair says, really, nothing. On the common app, you only get a couple of listings, be wise about what you choose.

I’ll say that you have a chance at the schools you listed. 100%? Not really. Especially as an international, it makes things worse. Have a backup at your country. Expect to not get in so you don’t get forced to take a gap year. Also, some schools like NYU will be expensive. Be prepared for it.

Look at avg SAT scores etc. If I had to say your chances in percent, maybe 10%-20%? Regardless, if you write a great essay and luck is on your side, you may get in. If not, don’t be disappointed. For internationals, applications is pretty much twice as hard.

Hey Andyis, yep just dropped the participations. Thanks for ur help! Excluding the fluff, are my ECs okay? Or are they lacking? Should I drop the idea of applying to the top tier schools and focus on mid tiers. I do have a backup in place.

There’s no need to drop dream schools, since you do have a chance, but if you have the time and money, applying to some middle tier schools to view aid and get a couple more acceptances would be good. I think your EC are good as they are now. Nothing that you should attempt to change at this point
