Chance me for CS?

Hey, I’m a junior right now and I really have my heart set on going to a top school for computer science so I can get a job in Silicon Valley! (Also I’m desperate to leave NJ lol)

GPA: 3.86 UW, 4.5 W (Low, I know…I was dumb freshman year.)
Rank: 3/792
SAT: 1520 (800 Math, 720 English), 800 Math I. Going to take Math II soon and probably get an 800 on that.
ACT: 34 (36 Math, 36 Science, 32 English, 31 Reading)
APs: Human Geography (4), Psychology (5), Computer Science A (5). Currently in Calculus BC, Physics C: E&M, English Language, and U.S. History. Definitely going to get 5s on Physics and Calc.

School: Large, competitive public
State: NJ
Demographic: Basically a white male (I’m half-Trinidadian though, should I check mixed-race?)
Income bracket: $100,000

ECs: President of Computer Science Club at my school, won local university’s high school-level computer science competition two years in a row, run my own web development/design business that made over $10,000 last year. Going to join Math NHS next year and be captain of the ultimate frisbee team. It’s not a lot I know, but I think it shows a lot of focus?

Recs: My computer science teacher loves me, I’m sure it’ll be great. I can also get one from a web design client of mine that’ll be good too.

Essays: I’m worried because I’m not the best writer, but I’ll try to get help looking them over so they won’t be super bad or anything.

Schools I’m thinking of/going to apply to:
MIT
Stanford
Caltech
Harvey Mudd
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon
UIUC
U of Waterloo
Rice
Purdue
Virginia Tech
UMD
UT Austin
UCSD
Cal Poly SLO

Thanks for looking me over!!!

How much can your parents afford to pay each year for college?
Cal Poly SLO and UCSD does not give financial aid to out of state students so expect to pay full fees at about $45K/year for SLO and $60K/year for UCSD. They also give little merit aid so look for schools that will give you good merit for your stats.

You have competitive stats so you would have a good chance at many of the schools on your list.

Run the Net Price calculators on each school and run them by your parents. Do not apply to schools that are unaffordable since it will only end up in disappointment if you are accepted and cannot pay.

Best of luck.
