Computer Science CHANCES for UCSD, UCD, UCSB, SCU CAL poly SLO

Hey guys I’m new to this but I wanted to see what you guys thought about my chances and whether I would have a chances at any of these schools Im currently a senior right now at a pretty competitive high school. I was wondering what are my chances at SLO UCSD UC Davis UCI or UCSB for Computer Science
Weighted GPA: 4.46
Unweighted GPA: 3.97
UC GPA: 4.7
SAT: 2050 (yeah i suck at tests lol retaking in Oct for 2100+)

SAT 2s: Chemistry:760 Math 2: 750
AP Scores: AP Euro:3 APUSH:5 AP Psych:5 AP Chemistry:4 AP English:3 (surprised because I had to shit my pants the entire time)
Senior AP Courses: AP Calculus AB AP Physics AP Computer Science AP english lit AP Econ

My ecs are ok but not spectacular e.g high school baseball leader for my own club Speech and Debate
Any comments are appreciated!

SLO: High Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match

Your UC GPA and SAT scores are competitive. SLO has about a 12% acceptance rate for CS, so that is always a tough admit along with UCSB (since they have a small engineering department). You look competitive for all the schools, just have some good safety schools on your list since CS has become such a competitive and popular major.

Good Luck.

You are a very strong candidate for all of them but, you may want to recalculate your UCGPA here:

Since they limit your AP bonus points to 8 semesters, 4.7 is a REALLY high.

Good luck

Sorry I forgot it was capped!!
UC GPA:4.36
UC Unweighted gpa 4.0
Any guys think ucsd comp sci is too much of a reach? Its where I really wanna go.

@NCalRent @Gumbymom Thanks for answering guys:) one of my teachers said that it would be really hard to get into those colleges with my stats and was wanting to see other perspectives.

If anyone else has any input it would be gladly appreciated!

Bump

You are competitive for these schools…the only thing is are the extracurricular activities. However, your GPA and your test scores are good…a 2050 is not bad!

You are a very strong candidate - but they get a lot of those. Apply broadly.

Your SAT is a little low for UCSD.

Based on your SAT scores: I think you are good for Santa Barbara and Irvine.
UCSD and SLO, in that major, would need a higher SAT.
Are you instate???

Alright thanks guys! @"“aunt bea” Yes I am

Update: I got a 2130 on my SAT.
800 M 690 W 640 CR. Am I still too low for UCSD and SLO or should I take it again? I’m also considering biochem at berk and UCLA.

Bump

I think your GPA makes up for the SAT scores for UCSD. UCLA and UCB are still reaches though

UCSB- Low Match
UCSD- Match
Cal Poly- Reach (you are an overqualified applicant)
UCD- Reach (you MAY be rejected for being overqualified.)
SCU- Low Match
UCLA- Low Reach
UCB- Low Reach
UCI- Low Match

The only reason I said UCD and Cal Poly were reaches, is because they reject/waitlist applicants who they deem to be overqualified. This happened to several people I know in my area; one person (who was a valedictorian with 2200+ SAT) got accepted to Stanford, but waitlisted at Davis. Another valedictorian at my school with similar stats to this person got rejected by Cal Poly, but accepted to UCLA and Georgia Tech.

I’m going to go against conventional wisdom a bit and say you may have a better shot at UCSD than UCSB. The UCSB engineering school has a lower overall acceptance rate than UCSD, AND the UCSD enrollment for CS is larger than the entire engineering school at UCSB (1600 vs 1300). So you have the dual benefits of higher acceptance rate and a bigger pool that may reduce the chance of a random rejection. I also think you’re a match for UCD.

Would be great if there were data on acceptance rates by major, but only UCLA publishes that.

@mobius911 @QuiteAverage90 @spamuser Aite thanks guys. Would you guys recommend any other schools for comp sci/ engineering I’m still unsure what schools I should apply to for comp sci.

I dont know if your ok with going out of state but I would reccommend UIUC and University of Washington
