Hi I'm a senior from CT. I go to public school and recently had my respective interview (I applied RD). I realize that there is nothing more I can do but, what do you thing are my chances?

I have a 4.2 weighted GPA, 3.8 unweighted GPA
I submitted a 33 on the ACTs, a 780 on Math-II and 720 on Chemistry (5 on the AP test)
I am currently taking AP Psychology, AP Biology, and AP Calculus BC and the rest of my classes are honors level

I have participated in my school's marching band all four years in high school and I was the woodwind captain my senior year as well as the secretary of the student elected board.
I played tennis for my school all four years and am captain in my senior year
I have had a job since the 8th grade at the same place (5-10hr/wk), a local museum/workshop including being a summer camp counselor (40 hrs/wk)
I go on week long mission trips every summer, along with various volunteer events throughout the school year
I participate in various math and science events throughout the school year such as Science Bowl with is sponsored by UCONN and Moody's Math Challenge.

My letters of recommendation are from my boss, my chemistry teacher of two years, and my math teacher from junior year.

I think they are both reaches. But, reach does not mean its impossible. I think Duke is probably a farther stretch than Vandy, though. Vandy is looking to move up the ranks and is only accepting people with super high GPAs and SATs. So, I would say you’re on the cusp. Your scores seem pretty high to me, but “high” is only relative to the rest of the applicant pool.

Make sure you thank the interviewers via email. Also, if you really want something to do (this may not help at all), you could send an email to the admission rep to your top choice school letting them know its your top choice and giving them an update on the semester (i.e. Any projects you did, extracurricular achievements, etc).

I’d call Duke a low reach/reach and Vandy a low reach. You have solid scores, an slightly above average GPA, and some good extra curricular experiences. It’s down to your essays to set you apart. Thanks for chancing me btw!

I don’t know about reach, match and stuff but I believe that you should get into one of the two colleges. You have the qualification and the EC’s now its just up to the admission.
Thanks for the chance

I think you have a good shot at both, but your problem might just be standing out. Like other people have said, if your essays are unique then that would help a lot. I think you have a better chance at Vanderbilt than Duke, but good luck!!
