* Our school is a public school in which most of the student do not care about what college they go to. P.S one of the senior got accepted to Dartmouth last year.

It’s hard to say. obviously your standardized test scores are brilliant, but none of your ec’s really stand out as unique. did you have any positions in the clubs you participated in? have you been playing instruments for a considerably long time? did you win any notable competitions/games? to spruce your ec’s up a little (if you haven’t already submitted your application), maybe you could see if a few restaurants will pay you to perform with one of the instruments you play, that’s a little different. overall, your ec’s aren’t bad so i suppose it’s just a matter of whether the colleges are currently looking for something special or someone simply amazing because of their academics. i guess this didn’t really clear anything up, haha, but i think there are some somewhat easy ways for you to stand out just be expanding a little on the ec’s you’ve already got going.

chance me?? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1494137-chance-me-dartmouth-will-chance-back.html

oh also, idk what the deal is with the 2 on your first ap, but colleges often like turnaround stories, so perhaps you could write an essay explaining how you got better after that 2.

Your stats definitely make you competitive, but if you’d give more elaboration on your EC’s we’d be able to get a better idea of where you are. E.g.) do you have any accomplishments relating to your instruments, such as winning in a music competition? Do you have any research experiences? Are you a president of any of the kids listed? Have you participated in any competitions?

No I do not hold any current position in any of the clubs and I live in a
Very country side county so there is not much oppurnuity to expand my extraicrrucular activity. Any Advice?

What is your intended major? Can you tie in your academic interests or an extracurricular passion to your summer activities? You have a well rounded list of interests. Have you taught or volunteered with children or in your community to share some of your talents?

Sometimes summer experiences can provide some interesting college essay topic material.

Do you have specific teachers in mind who can write your recommendations? pref a teacher from junior year in a related subject tied to your intended major. My d asked her teachers before the summer of junior year and she gave them “cv” resume to help the teachers with specifics.

One more add…I would think that you have a solid shot getting into the schools you list. However, as we all know, these schools are selective and there are many talented students across the country. Therefore, I would spend equal time hunting for “safety” schools, that is one’s where your scores exceed the mid50%. Concentrate on finding ones that you would be happy to attend. Also, be sure to talk finances with your parents because all the schools you name are pricey. I have a senior daughter interested in Engineering so that is my known data point:) in addition to my own experience but that was too long ago. Good luck!

Thanks for all the reply… I do not know what I am going to major but I want to goto medical school after college
