PS: Thank you for taking the time out to respond, any insight on how to strengthen my application/chancing would be greatly appreciated, thanks !!!

I am also applying for 2024. For me, your application file looks great, compared to mine. If you are not sure on RD, try ED, it is a good risk. (my best advice).

At a 15% composite (ED + RD) accept rate last year, Emory is becoming a reach for just about everyone. Brown , Dartmouth, UCLA , UPenn, NW too. BU now at 18% is getting to be a tough admit too though the upper 25% student stay range not as severe.

Get your state school applications in as early as possible. You’ll be set with those back ups that way. You have a good list of schools and I expect you’ll have some good choices in the spring. Just no telling which ones when looking at those selectively rates

cptoftthehouse,
I appreciate that, thank you!

NghiaTrinh,
Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately probably won’t do ed because I have siblings who are going to college soon as well and possibly want to go the med school/grad school so I need to save money, thanks tho!

If I were you, I would ED to a school at the caliber of Northwestern, and then ED II to Emory, if that is a viable plan. Know, though, that no matter where you apply, it is insanely difficult to gauge if they will except you or not just based off of how crazy admissions is now. I got into Emory Class of 2023 RD. I think you can get into Emory RD, but ED is really a great way to up your chances. Best of luck this year!

When money is an issue and you know you want grad school, those better state flagships get very appealing, as do offers for grants and other scholarships.

If you are not considering ED due to cost does that imply you’re hoping for merit aid? Most of the schools you list do not offer merit aid.

Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it. Techno13, I just don’t want to ED because I don’t want to be in a contract where I pay full tuition. I have updated my list a little have like 5-6 schools that should give me money (Pitt, Penn State, Temple, Drexel, UMD)

Anyone else apply RD? My D applied RD

Mine applied RD as well. 4/1 seems really far away!

I applied RD, did you guys apply before Nov 15 for Emory Scholars as well?

Yes, @PurpleLlama066 DD applied for scholars. Seems odd that she may hear about that before RDs come out. Is that what you understood about how it works as well?

@Cheeringsection Yes you’ll hear before RD decisions come out. So there are one of 3 possible outcomes: 1) Rejected from scholars with no decision on RD yet 2) rejected from scholars but early acceptance for RD or 3) accepted to scholars and accepted to Emory/Oxford.

That is interesting. My D applied to scholars too, but I didn’t realize they would hear from them first
