Chance me for Exeter?

Hello everyone! I'm new to CC so I figured a "chance me" would be a good first post. Exeter is my absolute DREAM school, and I'd like to just get some opinions on whether or not I could get in.

My SSAT scores are pretty good: 96 Verbal, 99 Reading, 74 Math, 96 overall. The math score is worrisome to me, do you think it should be a concern of mine?

My interview went really well. I had the head interviewer, and I think she really liked me! We talked about books, horses, diversity, big schools vs small schools, and tons of other stuff.

My essays, in my opinion, were good. I like to think of myself as a talented writer, and I was very happy with how they turned out. There was a lot of info on who I am, which is what I've heard they like to read. I wrote about a challenging time in my life (my dog's death) and how I overcame it (writing), and my neighborhood and how it has influenced me. If I get in I may post them.

My recs were probably really good. I'm super close with my english and math teachers. I even have my english teacher's number in my phone haha. My principal rec was probably good as well, I've known her since I was 5.

My extracurriculars: Speech team, chorus, student gov (secretary), community service, tennis team, skiing, competitive equestrian (I ride everyday, twice a day), theater, and I lead tours for prospective families at my current school.

Legacy: I would be fifth generation at exeter

Thank you so so much, feel free to message me on here if you're also applying to exeter, have advice for me, or if you just want to chat!

Also, my grades are good, all A’s except for science. My science teacher is not a big fan of mine. I’m working really hard in science, but I get mostly B’s. I guess it’s just not my strong suit. I talked about my science grades during my interview, and the AO said it was understandable and maybe exeter science would help me gain interest and get my grades up.

I don’t require any FA.

I personally think you have a great chance. 5th generation (?) legacy means a lot. It means dedication. You are immediately on the top of the list just because of that! You also have other things besides that, which makes it better!

Thanks so much, amilocated. I really appreciate it, I feel a lot better knowing even one person thinks I could get in!

5th generation? I can’t even count that high. Good luck, ya little bunny!

Thanks stargirl3!!

fififififth generation, gosh.

Youre getting in

Bump! Would anybody else care to chime in?

You’re either so “modest” that you’re arrogant or you have no idea how much being a full pay 5th generation student will help you. Or both. No one here really knows, but I’m pretty sure almost everyone on the board would agree with what’s been said.

Enjoy these 31 days! :)

@stargirl3,

I really didn’t mean to come off as arrogant, sorry if that’s how it occured to you! When I started the admissions process, I was super confident that my legacy would get me into Exeter, but after spending some time on CC, I discovered there’s a lot more to it than that. I guess I’m just nervous haha. Thanks for your input, and I wish you the best of luck on M10 :)
