Chance me for Georgetown, Michigan, UCLA, UCB, Northwestern, etc.

I'm currently a junior at a reasonably highly ranked public school in California. I'm looking to apply to Georgetown, Michigan, UCLA, UCSD, UCB, Northwestern, Duke, Washington (Seattle), and Stanford (because why not?). Chance me please

Probably around a 770 on US and a 700 on chem if the practice tests are to be believed.

Awards: Honor Roll every semester

Job Experience: 1 summer interning at the Los Angeles Court of Appeal before my junior year.
1 summer interning as an observer and recorder for a Grand Jury (this summer).
Both of these tie into my interest in a political science major and a possible career in law.

ECs:
4 years of swimming. 3 of them varsity and a possible co-captaincy looming senior year.

Cookies For Kids' Cancer: Organization I have been involved with since I was 12 and then all four years in high school. We bake goods and host bake sales with all of the profits going to pediatric cancer research. This club holds a special place in my heart thanks to my hook.

Christian Club: 3 years of membership in the school's Christian Club including a Vice Presidency next year.

Hook: My mom had ovarian cancer since I was 8 years old. It hadn't really had that much of an effect on me as I soon grew acclimated to a life of hospital visits and chemotherapy. However, she passed away the summer before my sophomore year. Her death (and my younger brother's subsequent suicidal phase due to the loss of our mother) had a huge impact on me. I'm not going to use my mother's disease as an excuse. I never had and I never will. However, I feel like that, coupled with my brother's issues, offer something of an explanation as to my subpar sophomore year. I am definitely going to write one of my essays about her and her impact on who I am as a person.

Teacher Recs: Outstanding. Several teachers have already offered to rec me (including a Harvard grad who loves me) and I know their letters will be glowing.

Any chances will be much appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Well your gpa sucks but other than that you are very strong.
Kudos on your sat score

Can you chance me back? I’m the Michigan ross thread

Of course, my friend. Good luck with Ross!

Your GPA is low for these schools while your course load is not very rigorous. You do have a good test score that helps. UMich emphasize on GPA so I would say you are a high match there.

UMich: High match
UCSD: Match
UCLA: Match
UCB: High match
Northwestern: Low reach
Duke: Reach
Stanford: Reach

Michigan - Match
UCB - High match
UCLA - High match
UCSD - Low match
Northwestern - Reach
Georgetown - Reach
Stanford - High reach
Duke - High reach
UWashington - In

Thanks for your opinions guys! I suppose I could switch out film appreciation for ap stat next year to bump up my total APs to 7. Do you think that would help? Also if anyone else wants the chance me feel free haha :).

^ Good move. AP Stat is not difficult, but it does look better on paper than the film appreciation class unless the latter is your passion and is related to your intended major.

Georgetown: reach
Michigan: match
UCLA: high match
UCSD: match
UCB: high match
Northwestern: reach
Duke: reach
Washington (Seattle): low match
Stanford: high reach

OK then I’ll probably switch out film for stat. Thanks for the advice/chances everyone! And if anyone else wants to chance me, they’re more than welcome :).

Oh I was also wondering about University of Texas-Austin. I know it’s a little tougher for OOS kids, but I was wondering what you guys thought? I was also considering University of Virginia. Any thoughts for there as well?

I hate to be this guy, but I’m bumping one out for my homies…
