Chance me for Gtown, Dartmouth, Tufts, Hamilton, Colby etc

Just wondering what you guys thought my chances are at the schools I applied to. Here’s my info:

GPA: 93/100 UW (school does not weight or rank), I calculated it to be equivalent to a 3.8 uw

APs: World History, US History, Lang, Euro, Lit, Calc AB, Italian
Also, I’ve taken 3 languages throughout high school (accelerated in all of them). I self-studied Spanish summer going into junior and skipped into Spanish 3.

ACT: 31C (35E, 28M, 31R, 31S)… one question away from a 32…

Awards:
-High Honor Roll (grades 9-12)
-National Honor Society
-Honored by Board of Education for excellence in language. Gave 2-3 minute speech.
-Several of my ECs were selective, explained below.

ECs:
-I’ve had a job since summer of sophomore year, work around 14 hours per week.
-Tons of community service with my local church, including several service trips to Nicaragua.
-Tutoring middle schoolers.
-Act as a student representative for a district-wide committee at my school. Was one of three students to be invited to participate.
-2017 Boys State NY delegate, elected State Senator. One of two students from my school to be selected (after recommendation and an interview)
-Participated in a scholarship study-abroad program in Italy. One of twenty students to be selected in the tri-state area. Presented award and scholarship at the Italian Consulate General in NYC.
-Member of several clubs (Habitat Club, Language Club, DECA club, with some lower leadership positions)
-Music: concert band + self-taught piano

Demographics:
White male, upper middle class.

Here’s my list:
-Georgetown (deferred EA)
-Dartmouth
-William & Mary
-Tufts
-Hamilton
-Bowdoin
-Northeastern (deferred EA)
-Bates
-GW
-Colby
-BC

Where do I stand with the tougher schools I applied to? Do I have a chance? I’m a bit worried after my deferral from NEU

All your schools are tough! Is that your complete list? Do you have subject tests to submit to G’town?

Agree with @wisteria100. I see GW as a realistic match if you are full pay. Bates is a possible reach, but I think the rest are high reaches to high/high reaches. Have you also applied to other match and safety schools?

Bates, GW, BC and Colby are likelies, with the others as reach
Yeh, I don’t get the Northeastern decision - just plain weird

I disagree that the Northeastern decision is unanticipated as the Class of 2021 Admitted Student Profile had a median ACT of 32-34 - https://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/. Yes, very high.

A 31 ACT, while very good, is at or near the lower 25% at BC and Colby.

Sorry I didn’t specify in the original post: this list is not including several safeties and matches that I am less concerned about (and have already been accepted to in two cases). And yes, I sent 3 SAT IIs to Gtown. 710 world, 700 ush, and 680 lit

@Chembiodad
According to Colby’s common data set their range is 29-32

@valiumspinach, yes but Colby’s Accepted Student Profile has 31-33…https://www.colby.edu/admission/college-profile/.

Our DD’s HS Naviance results has some ED acceptances below 31, but all RD acceptances were 31 or higher.

That said the Colby acceptance rate at their HS is 60% based on an avg ACT of 31 and W GPA of 4.0.
While it includes some student athletes and legacies, its well above the 15% reported as many of Colby’s applicants are just sending an application in given no fee and no supplemental essay so maybe I understated your chances.

Northeastern offered ED this year for the first time, along with EA. Word is, that because of that, they were very stingy with EA this year. At Georgetown, there is no advantage to EA, still I don’t think it’s likely you will get in there. With strong essays and recs, you have a chance at some of the others. Good luck and keep us posted.

@wisteria100 Yeah, I expected nothing from Gtown, especially EA. I do have a bit of legacy there though, which is basically the only thing keeping me alive I think haha. Thanks for your response

@valiumspinach, Legacy makes sense as I would have expected a Denial - typically a Deferral for a Legacy is a gentler Denial…Best of luck during RD!

^^ G’town denies very few at EA stage. And for some reason, at G’town, legacies fare better in the RD round

I believe I found on their website somewhere that legacy is not considered at all until RD.

Here’s a Hoya legacy article that may give you some further insight http://www.thehoya.com/legacy-status-tips-admission-scales/

Also got deferred EA from Northeastern. Also very confused about that. I think it’s strange that you were deferred as well. I honestly didn’t care very much about Northeastern, but it does make me worried about the other schools I applied to. Also applied to Dartmouth, Bowdoin, Colby, and I did EDII to Tufts. Was deferred ED from Brown. This entire college application process is very stressful and discouraging. College admissions is weird. My guidance counselor told me that I had Northeastern in the bag, but I was deferred. Weird. Makes me more stressed about Tufts!!! But we’re both qualified people and if Northeastern and Georgetown/Brown don’t see that then it’s their loss! You’ll end up somewhere great, don’t worry (even though I’ve been worrying nonstop since yesterday!).

@sciencenerd123, sorry to hear about your deferrals.

Are you are hooked applicant or do you have scores that well within the top 75% at these schools? If not, Colby, Hamilton (applied? Can’t tell from thread…) and Tufts are reaches and Bowdoin, Dartmouth and Georgetown are super reaches - in the case of Bowdoin and Dartmouth, they are super reaches even with a 36 ACT and a 4.0.
