Good day College Confidential. My name is John is Eastern Europe. I am an international applicant. In two months I will start the senior year. I really want to go to Harvard CS or Stanford CS.

This is MY Admission. I saved as a image to don't be indexed by Google.

The biggest problem for me is ENGLISH. Chance me to these universities as an international applicant.

Choose Stanford, but there is almost no doubt of you getting accepted to either. You have more accolades in engineering and CS than many get in their careers. However being an international is difficult, but I think you are one of the most qualified applicants I have ever seen on CC.

Thank you very much for feedback!

But there aren’t any problem with my english?. For instance Stanford’s minimum TOEFL score(it is a required test for international students who speaks a different language than english) is 113 from 120. I got only 81. My score it is long far from this 113. I don’t really believe the non-native speakers can take 113.
According with TOEFL my English is really awful. My mother language is a latin language from Europe.
Personally I think I can not compete with Americans at English.

I think my volunteer activity it is perfect for these universities.

I am so sure that both universities will accept you. That’s an awesome admission form for Harvard and all Ivy leagues universities.

Just one point… TOEFL isn’t required at Harvard, and your 620 in CR shows you have basic English proficiency (above average high-school level). Also at Stanford, it says that they recommend, but do not require TOEFL ([Testing : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)).

Still, the place English will most hurt you is essays, which are valuable. Try to retake the TOEFL but know that it won’t kill you, and work on making your essays as good as your achievements.

Thank you Und3rC0ver. Should I write more details about my volunteer career? Should I write all 120 national contests in my admission process or should I write only a mention about that.

Do I need to mention I had been in 5 national math contests and physics? I will obtain some recommendations from phd. teachers from well know universities in my country.

Any feedback and suggestions?

I’m an international, too, and I completely understand your situation, but maybe I have the tough task to break up your hopes a little. I totally agree that you have impressive ECs and all, I mean it: they are IMPRESSIVE. Although your TOEFL score is really really low, it is not required neither by Harvard and Stanford, but it is strongly recommended by both and you have to prove your proficiency in some way. The SAT score in Critical reading is not that high, is fine but most of Harvard/Stanford applicants have a composite of 2200+ so you need at least a 700 on both Critical Reading and Writing to prove your proficiency . Remember that you need to be fluent and to be able to understand each lesson you will take to succeed in both universities, especially if we are talking about these two, so you really need to improve the language. I didn’t want to be mean, just realistic about what you need to do to succeed – I think you totally deserve it since the accomplishments you received. You don’t need a 113 in the TOEFL, a 100 will be fine for most top universities and you can reach that score easily watching movies, reading and doing sample-tests on a specific book.
If TOEFL is still so tough then, I’ll advice you to retake the SAT instead and not to send them the TOEFL score and you’ll be fine. I think you can do it! Pick up some safeties if you want to go to study in the US anyway 'cause admissions are random at Harvard and Stanford.
Good luck! :)

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1370677-please-chance-me-ivies-i-promise-ill-chance-anyone-back.html

Ok, I understand, I will try to do my best. I will retake the TOEFL test. Any other suggestions?

Why aren’t you applying to CalTech as well?

Of course I will apply to CalTech, Berkeley, Princeton and Yale(from Yale I had already got a scholarship from a contest).
