Even if there were such a thing as discrimination against Asians in the college selection process, no one is going to disregard you because you are Asian.....you are different just by virtue of the fact that you are from Africa.

If it were just a numbers game, there would be more Asians at schools like Stanford to start with, because Asians generally have very high stats. Take Cal, where admission IS primarily based on stats; Cal's proportion of Asians is about 40% compared to Stanford's 24%. But even though Asians like to call it discrimination when they are rejected from HPYS etc., I believe it has more to do with the entire application and whether you stand out in some positive way.

If my app gets reviewed with a different eye, just because I ahppen to be Asian, and most Asians tend to had really high stats, then I think its unfair, I'm sure you can all see my reasoning there.

If they don't, then I'm happy.

Lets reword this then. Considering that I am Asian, what will Harvard think?

I think you do, but there are no guarantees. And please don't think because one college rejects you that it means anything. You may later discover your first choice school would not have fit you anyway. Talk to some successful adults you respect and you'll find out many of them didn't go to their first choice, and it did not ruin their life. My H went to NW undergrad and law because he didn't get into Harvard, his first choice. He works for one of the most respected (and largest) law firms in the world.....maybe because he stood out at NW....I don't really know. But my point is, you have done extremely well and appear to be quite well-rounded......you will get into a wonderful school, very possibly an Ivy, so don't get too obsessed about one school in particular.

Ok guys, I just had a question, looking at my stats

Will it benefit me to retake the 680 chemistry SAT 2, because I am going to take the physics (since Harvard requires three) so I thought why not, since it doesn't cost much.

Also, does Harvard accept the January 26th SAT Date?

Unless you think that having to study for chemistry as well as physics will have a negative impact on your physics score, then I would retake chemistry.

Your GPA and class rank are not great for Harvard. Your SAT scores and ECs are good, but not spectacular in the Harvard pool. Your application says that you are a science person, but a chem SAT II of 680 is not that high for a science person applying to Harvard. So I would say that a better score in chemistry would strengthen your application and you might as well try for it. If the chemistry score you get in the retake is worse, Harvard will disregard it anyway.

And yes, Harvard do accept scores from Jan 26th
