You definitely want 2200+ (2250+ if you can). Your GPA is fine but not great – what grades are you getting this year? That’s what will matter the most. Upward trend? Mostly A’s/A+'s with a few lower grades, or mostly A’s and A-'s? How competitive is your school/do they send graduates to top LACs? Your extracurriculars aren’t great either – getting a leadership position would be something to look into. Good essays will really help you out at all three of these schools, though.

I’d say Swarthmore is a reach/high reach, Vassar is a low reach, and I’m not sure about Haverford.

tarmiriel-
I’ll be sure to study extra for the SAT’s then. Is taking the ACT advised at all?
My grades are on an upward track, so I think my GPA will be maybe ~96 at the end of this year? No, my school is not so competitive - we don’t send too many kids to top LACs or universities, unfortunately.

Junior year is when we can apply for leadership positions in the honor societies so I’ll try for that.

Thanks so much for the feedback!!

Commenting on Haverford, it is definitely a reach. Not as high of a reach as Swarthmore but definitely a reach.

Swarthmore: high reach
Vassar: low reach
Haverford: low reach

Good luck!

Swarthmore: reach
Vassar: low reach
Haverford: low reach
