IMHO I think you have at least a shot at it if your Honors essay was dynamite but I suspect you are in the borderline range. Your GPA is a little on the low side for the Honors Program but if you took a lot of Honors/AP or similar type courses and got great grades in them maybe this would compensate for this. A lot would depend on the applicant pool. It is getting increasingly difficult to successfully predict acceptance due to the progressively high caliber of students applying to UD for both the Honors Program and even Regular admission. Good luck.

This last year the HONORS college was inundated with applications. My child’s stats were similar to yours, better in some and a bit less in others. He did not make the Honors College. We asked for a review and they declined saying they never make those changes. He did get a great scholarship and is attending.

Just for everyone’s information you can apply for admission to the Honors Program after you have completed one year at UD if you meet certain requirements (listed on UD’s Honors Program website). Also students can take Honors Program courses after one semester if they have a high enough GPA and openings are available (they usually are but not always-depending on the course). This actually can look very good on a student’s transcript if they plan on applying to Grad/Professional Schools and may even be of help when looking for a job. However you need to keep in mind that Honors Program Courses (usually just special sections of regular courses) usually require more work but you usually get more individual attention from the professors and are challenged to a greater degree. Hope this info is helpful.

Haven’t heard about honors school yet (idk if it is released with decision), but I did get 9k annual which i’m very happy about. :)

In the past if a student was accepted into the Honors Program it was so noted in the Congratulations message the student gets on their portal.

my daughter’s welcome message on her portal welcomed her to the honors college. Hope that helps! Good luck!
