Chance me - for housing

It’s October and it’s time for housing selections to be made for existing on-campus students. DD is living in an LLC dorm, likes the place and would like to stay on campus, but on an apartment at the Taj Mahal (3rd and Union or Union Street (?) / Cedar). She’s not really interested in some of the older apartments or those way out of the way. Cost not really an issue

I understand the housing app opens on the 15th for all current students. But DD reported you only get to make one choice, i.e. 3rd and Union - Studio. Is this the case or do you provide a list of choices (1st, 2nd…) How does RPS decide where to place you if your 1st and only choice is unavailable? And the big one, do sophomores have any chance? does it go strictly by status, #credits, random, ???

answering my own post

Well, seems like housing for existing students is deterministic after all. You get a real time inventory of housing stock and select a specific residence hall or apartment building, floor, etc. so at the end you pretty much know where you are headed. DD scored her first choice but then she did it at 8:05 AM

The housing app even had the latest spots in Wells Quad. A bit pricy but the environment looks great, and location… It’s the anti-McNutt :).
