I feel like, based on my application package, my SAT is likely going to be the only reason they will use against me.

here is my list:
Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Stanford, UChicago, WashU, Cornell, BC, uRochester, Binghamton.

many of u may think i am a dreamer, but I am actually not. I was only aiming for like ranked 50ish schools, but my college advisors strongly push me for those schools. so i told them that my SAT is super low for the first eight schools, and they responded with, "I know you'll do well, ur essay explains everything. I have faith in you." so yea...plz chance me.

Chance me. Ill chance back

OH BTW, I have had all interviews. I will say, i aced all of them =]

You have a chance at most of the Ivies you have listed, in my opinion, but below their average admittance rate. Most people with low SAT scores (by Ivy level) have multiple hooks combined. You seem to have a few of them (illiterate parents, low income) but that is coupled with being an ORM and an international.

Personally, I think you would have had a better chance if you had a 1800 with a 600 in each section as opposed to the one you have know, because of that 460.

Your ECs are average apart from the one where you had to work to support your family. That stands out a lot and I hope you highlighted that.

I think the Ivies are reaches for you. With such a low reading SAT score and a rank outside of the top 10% I think you will be rejected. However, you should have a good shot at Binghamton, uRochester, and WashU.

Ty! I did highlight my work experience and talke about how I am the youngest but still worked so my family doesn’t have to share our apartment with another family anymore. I agree with both of you. Ty

I think you have good extra-curriculars and a good story to supplement, but as you already know, your SAT scores may be the biggest issue here…

I once heard from an officer that no matter how low, 500+ on CR would be appropriate to perform up to par at any Ivy League or top institution.

To expect multiple acceptances would be a stretch, but you’d never know- miracles happen. Good luck.

Please chance me.

im not sure =( hope hope hopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I would be extremely doubtful with a 460 reading score, man. High, high reach. don’t get me wrong, considering where you started, you’ve done amazing things. But if I was a admissions officer, I would wonder about your ability to handle the classwork (not because of intelligence), but just because of the language barrier. Maybe take a TOEFL to prove your literacy (to them)? Any way good luck.

somehow i doubt this “Fujianese from china (i’ll probably be the only person from my type of Chinese applying to HPCS)”

anyways
Rochester and BC for sure… the other ones, probably not :/

@packer22 and cyberchondria, yea i agree with you guys. One of my major disadvantages is SAT reading score, and i wrote that in my thread. =[

oh well, rochester or BC is satisfying. thank you!
