Chance me for JMU? #1 choice by far!

Hey everyone!
I applied for RD, and I'm in-state (Northern VA)

GPA weighted: 3.66 (rank: 195/462- you can see how competitive my HS is!)

SATs:
math = 530
reading = 560
writing = 610 (but they don't look at writing :[ )

ACT: 24

3 APs (AP Psych, AP Lit, AP art), honors english every year, honors bio, 4 years of math, went up to Spanish 4, taking teacher cadet this year (a class you must apply for and only 18 people get in).

Major:
Art Education

EC/other stuff:
-Waitress for 2 years (currently still working there)
- started own mini business (face painting for parties)
- help raise money for American Cancer Society
- House league softball till Junior year
-Won 1st place in chemistry section of school science fair
-Award of merit from my county on a still life drawing I did.

In my essay I talked about becoming a teacher, and how I use to live in London and how I would like to go back there to teach, etc.

Recently I went to JMU to do a portfolio review of my art, and I was selected to be in the running for an art scholarship. This will only happen if I get in to JMU. I'm not sure if they notify the admissions people that I'm a candidate, but I doubt it. Unfortunately just because I have a strong art portfolio doesn't mean the art teachers there can give me a reccomendation to the admissions staff. As much as they beg, it's really down to the grades. JMU is my #1 choice by far, and I really don't know what I'll do if I don't get in.

When comparing my stats on naviance.com to the class of 2010 seniors, the red circle, which indicates me, is usually around someone who was accepted, but I'm borderline, which scares me!

APRIL COME FASTER!!

thanks guys!

Hey girl, we are from the same area in Virginia and I am facing the same pressure that you are! NoVa is sooo competitive! We have similar sat scores. I think you have a good chance however your gpa is a little lower than average accepted to jmu, but I would check & see if there’s anything you can do to let the admissions commitee know about your scholorship nomination. Consider writing a letter! Chance me back if you can! :)

I know, i’m really hoping my GPA goes up for midterm grades! but i hope my schedule for school classes seems “vigorous”, and I hope teacher cadet kind of helps me stand out. thanks for chancing me!

hey! i think the sats can be a liiiittle bit higher but your schedule will definitely look “vigorous” with a bunch of AP’s and you have a lot of ec’s. i think you have good chances! and agreed… APRIL NEEDS TO COME FASTERRRRR
