You have a very good shot with your all your leadership positions, student council activities and other ECs. Your academics definitely stack up well and I personally find you a very solid candidate.

However whats your intended major? If its BME or any other Biomedical Sciences remember chances are slim since its their flagship major and they will admit only the best.

If not then a solid chance but still all the best :)

I’m thinking Chemistry or Biology.

With your EC’s and ACT (why is your reading so low!?) JHU ED should be a breeze. Just don’t screw up your essays and interview and get solid rec’s and you should definitely be in. Remember all your academic credentials put you in the 75+ percentile for the school and in ED, they have incredibly high acceptance rates (33%+ I believe).

You’ll be just fine! According to News Week’s profile of Johns Hopkins, their Early Decision acceptance rate is a startling 50%!!! And you seem like a highly competitive applicant, so I would say that you are highly likely to get in :)

Oh wow its at 50%? You should definitely get in then as long as you don’t go and cuss out the interviewer.

@tj1994 - reading is definitely my weak spot  it didn’t help that my proctor turned on a loud air conditioning unit blowing directly onto me just as this section began. >_< it’s no excuse, though. i needed 5 more minutes and i would have been in the solid 30s. wouldn’t we all do better with more time though? anyways thanks for the feedback!

Haha I know what you mean! My proctor was a jackass too. She had a terrible cold and kept blowing her nose and making weird noises. Then she cut out our break because she had to use the restroom and came back too late to give us one. Don’t worry though, your score is still exceptional. And anytime! You don’t need to thank me for feedback lol.

Hey, I got into JHU ED this past Fall. From what you’ve said, you look like you’ll definitely have a good shot. The only thing that makes me hesitate is why your Weighted GPA is so low compared to your Unweighted GPA when it looks like you have taken quite a few honors/AP classes. In your essays, let out your passion. My entire CA essay was based on an experience that changed my mind on community service and my list of activities proved it. Look through your extracurricular activities and find a common link between the majority of them and write a powerful essay that brings out the passion you have for that link. DO NOT writiean essay based on academics. If JHU wanted to, it could fill it’s entire class with Valedictorians and recognized geniuses. It doesn’t however because that’s not what they look for- they are looking for students who challenge themselves academically, do well in school, and excel in something besides school. They want someone who makes an imprint on the campus. In the supplement essays, give them some ideas of clubs or activities that you would like to see created during your 4 years. Let them know that while you will still work hard in school, you will also strive to better the campus.

As for other schools, here was my list:

NYU, BU, Princeton, UChicago, UMaryland, Cornell

@AAustin - Yeah my school does it differently than other schools I have heard of. We get 0.5 added to each AP class and that’s all. For instance, if I got an A in AP Chemistry, it would be 4.5. We don’t get boosts for anything else. Usually the highest GPA in my school is a little over 4.1. And thanks for the tips on essays because I don’t even know where to start with those. I’m the first one in my family to go to a college that needs an essay (my brother goes to community college), my dad doesn’t care about college and doesn’t know anything about the process, and my mom lives in Texas (I live in Michigan), so she really doesn’t have anything to do with college stuff. I’m finding it stressful because I have to research everything on my own, so any bit of advice like that helps.

what major you applying for? E-mail the head of that department and also try and reach out to the admissions board. I’ve heard that when reviewing applications, schools sometimes take into consideration how many times you’ve visited/talked to them (which makes sense because you’d only visit/talk to them multiple times if you were really interested). When doing the common app, don’t be afraid of getting help. It’s a giant monster and no one should have to do it by themselves. For the 150 word essay, I wrote about a time when I failed to make All-State band because I neglected sight-reading and how I’ve learned that your strengths can not always fully cover your weaknesses. I’ve heard that colleges love hearing about something negative that you turned into a positive lesson.

From what I see of your extracurriculars, I’d say talk about your love of leadership positions, not because you are in a position of power, but because you believe in leading by example. Each leadership role has given you the opportunity to help others etc, etc.
