Please chance me for JHU ED! I'm a little bit worried since I have a C on my transcript in an honors class that I took sophomore year that was really difficult. How bad will this hurt my chances?

Don’t retake the 33! That’s good enough, and if you’re applying to any schools that want all you’re testing history, then this won’t look so good. One C won’t hurt, but you’re 4.53/5 GPA is kind of concerning. Did you not take the most rigorous courses possible? Awards/ECs are good enough for JHU, especially ED, good luck!

Chance me back?

I agree about not taking the ACT. My son got into JHU with an ACT of 30 and one C in HS (UW 3.83). Make sure you write strong essays. I don’t think there is any value to “chancing”, but I will say that your stats and activities look reasonable enough for a school like Hopkins.

I’ve taken all of the most rigorous courses at my school but my school requires that we take certain courses that aren’t weighted to graduate so that lowers my GPA. I think the highest GPA we have at our school is like a 4.6.

Sorry, the weighted GPA should be 4.53/4. Our school’s honor classes and AP classes are 5.0 and regular classes are 4.0.

Don’t worry so much about the GPA, as you GPA will be compared with that of students at your own school. You cannot compare GPAs from two different high school since the courses are completely different as are the grading methods.
