You won’t be a direct admit with your current SAT score, but you should have a good chance of getting into IU because of your GPA. After your freshman year, you can apply to Kelley (this process is called standard admission). Direct admission info is in the first link, and standard in the second.
Also, try the ACT if you haven’t. I know several people who did several points better on the ACT than their SAT equivalent. It could make a big difference if you choose to go to IU and try for direct admission.
Thank you! @iubaccounting I’m definitely aiming to get my SAT high enough so that I can get into Kelley Direct admit!, thanks for sending this links as well
No problem. I am going to be a junior in Kelley this fall and I have enjoyed my experience so far. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about IU or Kelley!
What would you say makeup is of out of state/in state…or put another way, did you feel Kelley was full of people from same high schools? Just wondering if my out of state student would feel really out of it.
@aggiesomeday123 I can’t speak for Kelley but as far as IU as a whole, there are a lot of Indiana kids and a large population of kids from the Chicago area from what we’ve seen so far. However, IU is very diverse and in the tours we took we had people from all over in our groups.
One other thing to consider, some of the Indiana high schools are quite large so even if there is a large number of kids going to IU from the same school, don’t assume that they all know each other. My D is going to be a freshman at IU and there are two kids who are going to be in her LLC and other than knowing their names, she really doesn’t know them and never had a single class with them in HS.
When I went to college I went to one several states away and didn’t know a single person on campus. I found that people actually were more open to me because I was different and not one of the “locals”. Large schools like IU and especially Kelley draw a very diverse group so I would think your student would fit in with the diverse group that Kelley attracts.
@aggiesomeday123 Kelley is extremely diverse. Look at me, for example. I am a kid from CT that enrolled in Kelley and I am not the only one. While you will get your fair share of Chicago Suburb and Indiana students, there are plenty of people from all over the country. On my floor in the KLLC alone, there was kids from NY, CT, Michigan, California, Georgia, Ohio, New Jersey, Nevada, and more. I never felt out of it at all.
